This meditation will set you up for successful sleep and inner healing,
Or at least give you some moments of peace.
Take a few moments,
Get comfortable in your bed.
If you can,
Lie down on your back,
Flat on your back.
Your arms are at your side,
Your palms face up,
Your eyes are closed.
Bring your gaze to your third eye space,
The spot right between the center of your eyebrows.
Gaze into your third eye.
Try to slow down your natural breathing pattern.
This naturally calms your central nervous system.
As you gaze into your third eye space,
Scan the phase of life you are living,
Or maybe your day.
As you do this,
Things will come up that you want to change or improve.
As you identify these things,
Start to formulate your intention.
Let it be a short positive statement that defines what you want to change or improve.
For example,
If your home is really messy or your workplace is a mess,
Your intention might be,
I am neat and organized.
If you have trouble sleeping at night,
Your intention might be,
I sleep deeply.
Set your intention now.
Repeat your intention one more time,
Keeping your full awareness on your breath,
Your belly.
Count both your inhale and exhale breaths.
Inhale nine,
Exhale nine.
Inhale eight,
Exhale eight.
Continue on your own.
If you get to one before you hear my voice,
Start back at nine.
If your mind wanders,
No worries,
Start back at nine.
You can stop counting now.
Keeping your gaze at your third eye space,
Tune in to the creative power of your imagination,
Your beautiful mind.
Start to imagine your body temperature is rising.
Imagine you are extremely hot,
As if you were standing outside on a hot,
Hot summer's day or standing right next to an open fire.
Experience a feeling of heat to fade away,
The temperatures drop.
Continue to use the creative power of your imagination and start to imagine your body's temperatures have dropped so cold,
You're freezing cold.
Experience cold as if you were outside on a freezing cold day,
Wearing very little clothing or taking an ice plunge.
Experience cold now.
Keeping your gaze at your third eye space,
Visualize yourself in a beautiful flower garden.
See yourself walking slowly.
See yourself walking freely,
Without a care in the world.
You are barefoot.
Feel the blades of grass as they touch your feet.
Feel the grass as it falls between your toes.
Imagine the sound of the grass.
Notice some of the beautiful flowers.
See the different colors and shapes.
Maybe notice the different smells.
Look for the flowers growing as weeds,
Maybe a delicate dandelion or a beautiful daisy.
See their beauty.
See yourself walking towards a bench.
You sit down on the bench.
You gaze up into the sky and start to witness the most beautiful sunset you can possibly imagine.
The sky is bright,
Different shades of orange and red.
The sun is round,
Perfectly round,
Slowly fading into the horizon.
Watch the sun fade slowly into the horizon.
As the sun disappears,
Bring your full awareness back to your breath at your belly.
Become one with your breath.
Be at peace with your breath.
Mentally repeat your intention now.
Our time together is nearing an end.
If you are still awake and want a little more meditation,
Try watching your breath at your belly.
Watch each breath come and go.
Try to find the piece of peace that exists within each breath.
Notice the piece of peace that exists in between each breath.
Let your breath lull you to sleep like a beautiful lullaby.
