Emotional Healing And Release: Hoʻoponopono
by Paul Babin
Inspired by Hoʻoponopono, a Hawaiian meditation practice of reconciliation and forgiveness, this is a powerful experience of emotional healing, gratitude, forgiveness, and self love. Against a background of gentle music, this guided meditation will help you to let go of negativity, self-judgment and doubt as you reconnect with the Divine You.
Transcript
This is a clearing process based on a Hawaiian ritual called Ho'oponopono,
And it works by bringing our attention to four simple yet powerful phrases.
As you get comfortable,
Take a nice deep breath and allow your body to relax completely.
Give yourself unconditional permission to slow down,
To be present,
To let go of any judgmental thoughts,
Resistance in any form.
Give yourself over to this experience of clearing,
Relaxation,
And surrender.
Put aside any part of you that wants to control.
Imagine your body opening to receive.
Picture every cell and fiber expanding as the space between these cells and molecules grows.
And starting down at your toes,
Notice a radiant,
Spacious energy slowly moving up and out,
Up through your feet,
Through your calves and thighs.
With each in-breath,
Picture this warm vibrational energy moving upward through your buttocks,
Your abdomen,
Filling your heart and chest,
Radiating upward through your shoulders and neck,
Through your head.
And breathe.
So allow yourself to drift free from any expectations and surrendering into this moment.
The first phrase is one of gratitude.
Notice what thoughts and feelings come forward when you hear the words,
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
If you were to say thank you right now from the deepest place in your heart to any person or any event in your life,
What first comes to mind?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
What do you notice taking place in your body when you say deeply and passionately,
Thank you?
Thank you.
Thank you.
What experiences from your past are coming into your mind right now that taught you a valuable lesson,
Even the painful experiences?
What experiences are you having now in your life that are teaching you,
That are bringing you wisdom?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
In the moment,
It's often difficult to see any value in a painful event.
What might have at the time appeared to be a random experience of suffering and pain,
In retrospect,
Turns out to be a powerful learning opportunity,
An occasion in which we became more consciously aware.
So right now,
From the deepest place of gratitude,
Say thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Breathe.
I want you to take this awareness and I want you to acknowledge yourself for all that you've gone through,
All that you've courageously overcome,
For all that you've gone through,
For all that you've created,
All that you've learned and made a part of your unique being.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I'd like you to bring your awareness to the energy center that is your heart and from that place,
Express gratitude for yourself.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
And breathe.
The next powerful words are,
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
Now allow your thoughts to recall those moments,
Those people,
Those events in your life where you would truly and deeply like to say,
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
Notice how profound and important this is for you to be able to say from your deepest place of truth and compassion,
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Allow yourself to feel whatever is coming up right now.
And if there are tears,
Let them come.
You can let go.
You can let it come up.
Knowing that your deepest healing will come with surrender.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Stay with whatever you're feeling.
That's all you need to do.
Be in this moment without judgment of yourself or anyone else.
Stay present.
Let yourself feel these feelings.
These feelings are a gift.
And allowing yourself to be vulnerable in this moment will bring lasting clarity to your life and a deeper connection to yourself and others.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Notice who comes to mind or what experiences come into your awareness as you say,
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Bring your attention back to your heart and now say,
Forgive me.
Forgive me.
Forgive me.
Now with the beautiful courage of your heart and your awareness that you are a divine creation,
Give this gift of forgiveness to yourself.
Forgive me.
Forgive me.
Forgive me.
Breathe.
Forgive me.
For all the mistakes you've made,
Forgive me.
For all the ways you may have harmed yourself,
Forgive me.
For all the negative self judgments and stories that you've let your mind repeat over and over,
Forgive me.
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
Now imagine that you are holding yourself as a child.
I'm sorry.
Now imagine that you were looking into the eyes of yourself as a teenager.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Perhaps there's a moment when as an adult you beat yourself up over choices you made that didn't work out the way you thought they would.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for the self harming stories I made up about myself.
I'm sorry.
The power in forgiving ourselves for the judgments we cast onto ourselves can't be overstated.
It is the highest form of loving,
Healing,
And nurturing.
When we forgive ourselves for judging ourselves,
We release negativity,
Self doubt,
And fear.
I'm sorry.
I forgive myself for judging myself as not enough.
I forgive myself for judging myself as unworthy.
I forgive myself for judging myself as unlovable because the truth is I am enough.
I am worthy.
I am lovable.
And whatever happened,
I was doing the best I could at the time.
Breathe.
Again,
A nice deep breath.
And let whatever is coming up,
Come up.
Now I want you to put both of your hands on your heart and just be present with the feeling.
You've let go of the past through forgiveness.
You've reconnected with yourself by making amends.
You've expressed gratitude for the abundance that is your life.
Bring your awareness to the you that is coming forward right now.
Feel that energy,
Wisdom,
Connection.
Stay present in your heart.
Allow whatever comes to you in your imagination,
In your memory or feelings.
Let the energy of these words emanate throughout your body and fill the space around you.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
As you feel yourself expressing this,
Where does it come from?
Have you kept this most powerful gift locked up somewhere?
I'd like you now to choose someone and give it to them.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Now invite the rest of the people in your life you'd like to share this with.
Imagine the expression in their eyes as you say,
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Looking at your life events,
Ones that brought you joy and healing and growth,
Challenging events that brought you wisdom.
Let the people who were part of those experiences enter your awareness.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
What about the people in your life you've held back on?
Those you have not fully expressed how deeply you love them?
Invite those people into your awareness as you feel it and say it,
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Breathe.
Are there more people you've been holding back on?
It's okay,
You can let go of resistance and from a place of gratitude,
You can say without judgment,
I love you.
There are no strings attached,
There are no conditions.
I love you.
How does that feel?
How long have you been waiting to say this?
To feel this?
And now bring your awareness to that child inside of you,
That child who yearns to hear these words,
To feel these words,
I love you.
I love you.
Bring your awareness to yourself as a teenager.
I love you.
I love you.
Now give this gift to yourself.
Put your name at the end of this sentence.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Breathe.
Let it come from the deepest place in your heart.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Say it to that little child inside of you.
Look into those eyes and notice how deeply that child that is you is longing to hear,
I love you.
I love you.
I will always love you.
And to the person you are right now in this life,
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Breathe deeply and simply notice what happens as you hear these words.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
I love you.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
I love you.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
I love you.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
I love you.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
I love you.
Now you can take a few moments to rest and relax.
Or if you must get on with your day,
You can open your eyes and just notice the deeper connection that you have to yourself.
And as you move through your day,
Notice the connection you have to others and the peace and serenity that fills every waking moment.
God bless you.
