Hello,
Paschal Indy here and welcome to this life coaching session on how to let go of anxiety and relax.
It's a big question,
Hey?
How do we release anxiety and relax?
And this is a question I ask myself a lot.
I first got into mindfulness 14 years ago when I was feeling pretty anxious every morning.
So this was an important question for me back then.
How do I let go of this anxiety that seems to be ruling my day?
And I'm happy to report that meditation practices and yoga and embodiment practices have really transformed my life.
I'm so much less anxious nowadays.
And from time to time,
I'll still need to ask myself,
How can I release the anxiety that I'm experiencing right now?
Because it's true that we can learn to work with anxiety and soothe our response to anxiety,
But we'll never eliminate anxiety from our lives because having emotions is just a normal part of human life.
But let's reflect on some ways that might help us to relax and let go of anxiety.
So usually when we're anxious,
We're in the future.
We're worrying about what's coming up or we're running,
Running,
Running to get everything done,
Striving,
Striving,
Striving,
All the tasks,
All the plans.
It's always in the next moment.
So what we really need to do is come back to this moment to really be here now in the present.
And for that,
We can use the support of the breath and our body.
And it can be such a joy to,
You know,
Come back to the mystery of this moment,
Of not needing a plan,
Of being supported and held in this moment.
And physical relaxation really is the key here.
So as you listen to this,
You're invited to make your body as comfortable as possible.
Lie down if you can.
And make it cozy.
You know,
Feel free to get a blanket,
Get a yoga mat,
Relocate so you can lie on the bed in the bedroom.
Feel free to press pause by the way if you want to adjust your environment.
So as comfortable as possible,
Let's take some luxurious breaths.
Mmm,
Deep,
Luxurious breaths.
Sighing if you can.
Relaxing the muscles of the face,
The eyes,
Let the muscles,
As Maya Luna says,
Hang from the bones.
You have all the time in the world right now.
For these 10 minutes,
You have permission to relax and just be.
You don't have to take care of anybody else.
And when we stop and slow down,
Taking deep,
Restful breaths,
This signals to the nervous system that we're safe.
We're in fight or flight mode when we're anxious.
Deep breaths help to oxygenate the muscles and the brain.
So then we breathe more slowly,
We take fewer breaths,
The metabolism slows.
And as the metabolism slows,
This halts the cortisol and adrenaline production that keep us hyper alert and anxious.
So let's really enjoy breathing for some moments,
Eh?
Enjoying breathing.
And feeling the support from the earth,
From your chair or your bed,
Or your feet perhaps if you're standing.
Send your awareness there to the places where you're supported.
The feet,
Back of the body.
Letting yourself be held by the earth,
By the chair,
By the universe.
As we relax more and more deeply into the body,
Letting relaxation soak into our bones.
And letting ourselves be nourished.
And as we relax and soften,
Our field of awareness widens and we become naturally more open,
Naturally more creative,
Reducing the fixation on projections which prolong anxiety.
I used to suffer from anxiety and taking 15 minutes a day to really stop and relax made all the difference.
Our thoughts are just projections of the future,
And worries are often very creative in a negative way.
You know,
They're illusory and often untrue,
Like the thought,
Oh,
They don't like me,
Which is often not true at all.
But if we believe it,
It keeps us stuck in anxiety or self-doubt.
When we relax,
The part of the brain which helps make us clear and rational and loving called the prefrontal cortex becomes more active.
So relaxation is actually more productive than running around.
And this also improves our attention,
Reduces our pain,
Reducing muscular and psychological tension.
And as we make this a daily practice of nourishment,
We increase our ability to relax whenever we want,
Even during stressful times.
It will bring you greater ease,
Greater well-being,
More life force,
More vitality.
We waste so much energy in worrying.
And you deserve this,
Right?
To feel happy and well and full of life.
So why not commit to practicing this practice for a few weeks,
A few months?
It can be life-changing.
So why not recommend this life coaching as a favorite and you can return to that as a daily reminder?
Or there's two or three other practices on my channel which might support you.
Their practice is called enjoying breathing,
Comfortable here,
Muscle relaxation and supported by the earth.
So I highly recommend those for you.
I'll say those again.
Enjoying breathing,
Comfortable here,
Muscle relaxation and supported by the earth.
So good luck with that,
Dear one.
And yeah,
Let me know how you go.
I'd love to hear about your journey with anxiety and the times that you remember to breathe calmly and bring relaxation into your system.
All the best with that.
Take care.
