Welcome to this meditation on opening to pleasure.
I wanted to create this meditation because the possibility of being human,
Of being in a body,
Is a direct invitation to pleasure.
And yet so many of us don't experience pleasure on a regular basis.
The pleasure of being in a body,
The pleasure of being alive,
Of feeling the sun on our face,
Or the wind in our hair,
Or even the cold of our fingers and toes on a winter day.
Pleasure is about opening.
So let us take some time and open to pleasure right now.
I'm so glad you're here with me.
So let's begin.
Let's begin by closing the eyes and letting the body find a comfortable place.
You can be seated or lying down.
It's completely up to you.
So let's begin by breathing and opening to the delight,
The delicious experience of the breath,
Opening to the full sensation of your breath and how your body expands and contracts with each breath.
And maybe noticing any places where you might be holding tension and letting the breath gently touch those places so that they can soften.
They can let go,
Can relax,
Because to experience pleasure,
You need to relax,
My friend.
Relaxation is one of the conditions for experiencing pleasure.
Maybe you can relax into the spaces between my words.
Perhaps you can rest into the gentle sounds of the background music,
Opening your awareness to auditory pleasure and letting yourself sink deeper and deeper inside.
And another condition for experiencing pleasure is being in yourself.
So right now,
You're taking some time to come into yourself,
To feel the weight of your bones,
To feel the softness or the firmness of the muscles of the flesh on the bones,
Taking your time,
Availing yourself to pleasure takes time.
You are investing in your own pleasure right now,
My friend.
And if you were to affirm your willingness to experience pleasure,
The pleasure that comes when you are present,
When you are here,
When you open yourself up,
I am opening to pleasure.
I am opening to pleasure.
Just repeating those words,
Hearing yourself say them,
I am opening to pleasure.
And then feel where they land.
Is there excitement?
Is there resistance?
Is there fear?
Or anything else?
Just notice what happens.
I am opening to pleasure.
Is your body willing?
Is your heart willing?
Is your mind willing to get on board and say yes to pleasure?
Saying yes to pleasure is an essential piece.
So let's practice.
I am opening to pleasure.
Receiving those words,
This powerful affirmation,
I am opening to pleasure.
And including any resistance,
Any places inside that are holding out,
Maybe have a judgment,
Have some ideas around what it is to open to pleasure and what it means about you.
Just including those parts and saying yes,
I hear you.
I hear you.
And breathing.
And then beginning again and saying I am opening to pleasure.
I am opening to pleasure.
Feeling your yes and feeling any parts that may still be saying no.
Because right now you are laying new tracks in your body,
In your mind,
New noise for pleasure.
And in this moment,
As you affirm I am opening to pleasure,
You are also harmonizing with the vibration of pleasure.
And when you harmonize with this vibration of pleasure,
You begin to magnetize pleasure,
To attract more experiences and to pay attention to what is already going on in your life,
My friend.
The flowers that may be blooming,
The softness of your favorite sweater,
The feeling of your skin when you step out of a bath,
Opening to pleasure,
Means embracing the pleasure that is already here.
We begin by receiving what is already here.
Notice,
Let's take a few minutes together in silence and continue to repeat this affirmation,
I am opening to pleasure.
I am opening to pleasure.
And see if you can open your awareness to the direct experience of receiving pleasure right now.

Holding the space.

You are held,

Very gently,
I invite you to come back,
To wiggle your fingers and toes,
To feel what may have shifted in our time together here today,
And to take a moment to acknowledge yourself for expanding into pleasure,
For tending to the pleasure body.

The subconscious mind learns through repetition,
And you can trust that you will discover new things each time you practice,
