Hi everyone.
This is a short meditation that you might like to use several times throughout the day to refresh your sense of sight.
We are constantly bombarded with so many messages and often shocking visuals,
But it can be hard to see the beauty right in front of us.
To see with the fresh innocent delight as we used to when we were small children.
So let's take a few moments together to try and rinse some of the negativity from our sense of sight.
For this meditation you will need an object that you find beautiful,
Vibrant,
Or heartwarming to look at.
It could be a rock you liked on a walk and picked up and took home with you.
It could be a picture of your fur baby,
Or it could be a lovely tree outside your office window.
Really it can be anything you find pleasant to look at at the end of the meditation.
Now find a comfortable seated position and clap your hands together and rub them together vigorously to warm them up.
Now close your eyes and place your heated palms over them and just breathe deeply for a few moments,
Enjoying a break from the visual world.
Now we are going to gently stroke our closed eyelids with each statement so softly as if they are being barely kissed with the softest breath of wind.
Let us wash emails from our eyes.
Let us wash text from our eyes.
Let us wash to-do lists from our eyes.
Let us wash social media from our eyes.
Let us wash advertisements from our eyes.
Let us wash the news from our eyes.
Let us wash all violence from our eyes.
Now let us sit quietly for a few moments in the stillness,
Placing your hands gently in your lap.
Now I want you to imagine that we are in the darkness of the womb of the Great Mother.
We are fresh and new,
Floating in buoyant warmth,
Never having seen the wonders of the outside world before,
Having no concept of color or movement.
Soon we feel the vibration of the Mother's heartbeat on our skin and we know we're being called into the world and that we will see for the very first time.
Now I want you to gaze at your beautiful,
Vibrant object and I want you to look at it,
Really look at it,
Like it's for the first time.
Do you notice anything different about it?
Does it perhaps seem brighter,
More precious or special?
Does it have a new meaning to you?
Let its beauty wash over you for a few moments before you begin your day again.
Please revisit this exercise when needed.
I hope it was of some small help to you today.
Bright blessings for the rest of your day.
