I love a cup of tea.
In Yorkshire were known for enjoying our tea.
My daughter got me this cup.
And it says,
This is my happy place.
And sometimes when I'm drinking my tea out of this cup,
I think about what my happy places are.
I have a few.
One of them is walking my dog Fudge.
He's a little cutie.
He looks like a fox.
I love it when he's off lead and he's running around and being a bit crazy and rolling around in the grass.
It really makes me happy,
It makes me smile.
Another happy place is when I'm in bed in the morning.
Myself or my husband will make.
Both of us a cup of tea.
And we'll take it back to bed and just sit there and have a natter,
Talk about the day.
I really like that.
It sets me up for the day.
It makes me feel really happy,
Really content.
Another happy place for me is just wrapped in a warm blanket with a cup of tea.
Looking out of the window,
Knowing that I've got nowhere to go and I've got nothing to do.
Just sat there.
I feel really content.
It just makes me feel really happy.
That's a real happy place for me.
And another place is when I go dancing.
When I can really allow myself to dance to be free.
My body can just be free to dance however it wants and without any cares of what people think.
People watching me.
When I can be really free,
That is my happy place.
Where are your happy places?
The problem with this is that it's all dependent on people,
Places,
Things,
Objects.
The danger of that is what if you don't have them?
Or if you don't have that place.
If you don't have those people or those objects.
Does that mean that you can't be happy?
If we're dependent on these things to be happy.
Then there's a risk that.
.
.
We won't be happy,
We lose our happiness.
But what if it was possible for us to be happy no matter what?
No matter what the circumstances,
The people,
The pain,
The conflict.
What if we.
.
.
Could still be happy.
What if that were possible?
What if our happiness was not about?
The things on the outside.
The externals.
What if it was about a place within?
A place that you could access at any time.
That it wouldn't matter what was going on in your life.
You could still access.
The happy place.
Let's try it.
So I invite you to just close down your eyes.
Let's try this out.
Just become aware of your surroundings with your eyes closed.
Aware of what is around you.
What is in your space?
Where are you in that space?
Picture yourself there.
Picture all the things that are around you as being in your peripheral vision.
And bringing your vision even closer now.
To the inner world.
You listen to your inner world.
What do you hear?
What are you aware of in this moment?
What is actually in your experience.
Are their sounds.
Can you hear the sound of silence that is between the sounds?
What does silence sound like?
Is it true that silence is silence?
Becoming aware of how it feels to be with stillness and silence.
Is there any discomfort there?
Is there a need for words?
For music.
Notice what arises for you in the stillness and the silence.
And see if it's possible for you to find.
That place of contentment here.
That you don't need anything other than what is here.
That there's nothing lacking.
There's nothing too much.
See if you can find that place,
That little sweet spot.
Right here.
You might notice the mind getting involved.
Saying what it would rather have.
What it would prefer.
See if we can just.
Become disinterested in that.
And become curious about finding.
That place of contentment.
Here.
In the stillness and the silence.
Where nothing else is needed.
Explore this place.
Find.
It's available to you right here,
Right now.
This place of contentment.
Where nothing needs to be any different.
Than what it is.
Of contentment.
Is this place of acceptance.
Of everything as it is.
Nothing to add,
Nothing to take away.
This place of contentment,
This happy place.
The only way to find this place is to just be.
Let go of everything that you think that you need to change about yourself or about your situation.
Just be.
Exactly as you are right now.
And the stillness and the silence.
Where there's nothing for you to go,
There's nothing for you to do.
There's nowhere for you to go.
There's nothing for you to get better at.
There's nothing for you to change.
There's nothing missing from this moment.
Nothing lacking in you.
As you are right now.
So just be.
Be as you are.
Be who you are.
Let this moment be as it is.
And find your place of contentment.
That happy place.
That is within.
And this be your happy place.
The mind will show you evidence of why it can't be.
Give you lots of reasons why this can't be your happy place.
The mind will give you lots of reasons why this can't be your happy place.
See if that's true.
Just as we discovered that silence is not actually silence.
Is it true that you can't be happy?
Right now.
With whatever is,
However you are.
Even with a busy mind.
Even with chaos.
Even with pain,
Even with conflict.
Even with mess.
Even with things going wrong or appearing to go wrong.
Even with things not going as we'd hoped.
And this.
Still be a happy place.
Can you find it here,
No matter what is going on?
So that in any moment.
No matter what.
Is going on.
This can be my happy place.
Plus of contentment.
Becoming aware of your surroundings again with your eyes closed.
Aware of yourself in this space.
Aware of everything that is in your peripheral vision,
Even with your eyes closed.
Whenever you feel ready,
Feel free to open your eyes.
So is it possible?
That no matter what.
Is going on around you.
That you can be in the eye of the storm.
And find that quiet,
Still,
Contented place.
Your happy place.
