After 12 years in a job.
The job I loved.
I'm now redundant.
From today.
How do I cope with that?
Well i have so many interests i love to paint i'm a meditator i teach meditation You might hear some little footsteps as well.
Oh,
Here he comes.
And I've got this little beauty to keep me company.
So,
What do we do?
What do we do with this time?
Maybe you're retired.
Maybe you're out of work and you're younger.
Either way,
Don't waste this time wishing the situation were different.
So I'm going to take you through a meditation right now.
And you don't have to be facing redundancy.
You don't have to be out of work.
It will still work for you.
But if you are,
I'm hoping to unlock something with you.
Within you.
And.
.
.
Help you find peace with your situation,
And not only peace,
But begin to thrive.
So close your eyes.
Just get comfortable,
Relax.
Relax in this moment.
And allow the eyes to gently close.
Soften the body from the top of the head.
You might even feel now the top of the head.
Feel what's happening.
And a softening.
Relaxing the muscles of the scalp.
And allow that to spread into the forehead The face and eyes.
The cheeks and jaw.
Making sure the jaw isn't squeezed shut.
Relax it if it is.
And the throat.
The shoulders.
Relax the shoulders.
Relax the arms and the hands and then come up into the torso,
The chest first seeing if you can connect with the breathing process here.
The gentle swell.
With a breath.
As it comes in.
Expanding the rib cage on the in-breath.
And relaxing on the out breath.
Then round into the upper back feeling the breath there if you can.
Then down into the lower back letting go of any pains and aches.
Just softening around them.
Not pushing anything out of the body but just relaxing with the way things are.
Then round into the abdomen.
Feeling the breath come in.
As the abdomen inflates all by itself.
Softly and allow this movement of breath to go through.
Any tension or tightness in the abdomen.
Can hold and so much here.
It's a powerful emotional center where we store our problems.
Feeling the breath here.
Rising on the in-breath and falling on the out-breath rising falling.
Then taking your attention down into the buttocks.
Feeling the contact that they make with the chair.
Softening here and then down the thighs Slowly scanning down feeling whatever's present.
The knees the lower legs and the feet.
Then just send a wave of relaxation from the top of your head.
All the way down the body in your own time collecting any remaining tension and pulling it down.
Back into the earth You can do this for the next few out breaths.
Breathing in and then allowing the out breath from the top of the head to collect any remaining tension and pull it out with the force of gravity through the body and out back into the ground And if there's any remaining tension,
Don't worry,
It's fine It will be here until it's ready to leave.
And I'd like to talk a little while you're in this meditative state.
Just connect with your breathing.
Feeling it wherever it feels most prominent but at the same time,
Keeping the ears open.
And redundancy.
It's not.
A person?
Becomes redundant.
It's a role.
The role no longer exists.
That can be really difficult.
We've built our identity around who this is.
We spent more time.
At work.
With our colleagues.
Then we have even our own families.
And you have to ask.
I hear so many people.
In the workplace saying fry yay celebrating that the week's over.
But that's a week of your life.
I don't hear anyone saying money.
Celebrating that Mondays come round.
They have to pull themselves out of bed.
Jump into a car or on a train and face another week of exhaustion.
With no time to do what you really love.
So it's not all black.
It's really quite grey.
And I hope you can see that.
Yes,
There will be worry.
Maybe financial worry.
But you will survive.
This is a brand new chapter.
It's a new chapter for me.
And it may be for you.
Or maybe retirement is your thing.
And you feel lost.
The same applies.
What do you love doing?
Do you like walking?
Painting.
Drawing meditating.
Meditate with me here.
Use this as an opportunity for great growth.
To become a new person.
When you become still.
The mind opens and opportunities drop into it left right and center Things you hadn't seen before.
Don't search for them.
In meditation.
Settle with the breath,
But when they come.
.
.
You will remember.
And you'll be clear-minded,
You'll know which way to go.
If we keep meditating,
This feeling of being lost Eccles!
And a new path opens up.
And we take that.
With courage and optimism.
Perhaps even with the belief that This has all happened.
For a reason.
So just settle back into the breath.
Just resting here,
Resting the mind.
Rest in the body.
Rejuvenating.
When you're ready,
You can stretch.
Moo.
And in your own time,
Open your eyes.
So maybe you are on this path with me.
I ask you to walk it bravely.
Whether it's You're just out of work.
Or you're retired and you're not sure what to do.
Or you have,
Like me,
Been made redundant.
I ask you not to add weight.
Into that already heavy backpack you've been given.
I hope.
That you find that this is the best thing that could have ever happened to you.
And I hope I find that out too.
Time will tell,
But I'm sure looking forward to it after a nasty shot.
I'm now ready for what comes.
Peace.
