Ultimately meditation is not about technique. Techniques can help us to meditate but meditation can be performed in a much more simple manner. Try this way of practising and see if it resonates with you.

Life is so beautiful yet can be so very difficult if we fail to gaze in wonder.

Remind yourself often that the presence of love is ceaselessly flowing all around you,

In you and for you.

See it in the leaf at its every stage,

How it burns with the fire of devotion more so even at its end.

Hear it in the hymn of birdsong as they sing to the gift of sky.

Never lose faith in the precious love of presence.

Everyone is trying to find the perfect meditation technique,

That's fine,

That's okay.

But can we practice being meditative free from the use of technique?

We can,

And that's what we'll do right now.

Just sit however you wish.

You can close your eyes if you wish or keep them open.

Maybe you can listen to this once with eyes closed and once again with eyes open to see how different the experience is.

And now just gaze from the centre of your being.

You can gaze with your eyes closed or open.

What I'm asking you to do is quite abstract.

Don't worry if you don't understand,

Drop the need to understand.

Drop the need to try to work anything out.

Let thinking and working out just drop.

Drop it down into the heart,

The emotional centre,

The place you feel from.

And don't look for anything,

Just connect.

Just be here.

So simple.

And don't push anything away,

Believing it's not meditation.

Don't pull anything towards you,

Believing it is meditation.

Just be still.

Just be still.

Be quiet.

Don't try to work out anything that I'm saying.

The spaces in between the words are far more important than the words I say.

The words point towards truth but the stillness and silence between the words are truths home.

Let my words just be a backdrop,

Just a reminder inviting you back home to inner peace.

To presence.

This presence here,

Rest in it.

Rest in presence.

It's so perfect here,

Isn't it?

Can you connect with the inner refuge that is here now,

That is the very core of you?

And don't make problems.

Don't try to work anything out.

Just feel this alive peace.

Peace peace.

It's already here,

Isn't it?

You may stray from this peace within,

But it's always here.

You leave it.

It never ever leaves you.

So here we are meditating.

No technique.

If the breath shows up,

Fine.

Feel it show up.

If sounds come,

Let them.

But when you hear,

Look to see who is hearing the sounds.

Can you just be the listener listening to this unfolding moment?

Maybe you stray from peace into thoughts that steal peace from you.

Now if this happens,

Can you just watch that happen?

It's almost a stepping back,

Back into who is watching and seeing is the watcher at peace?

Look closely.

Peace peace.

There's also great love in peace.

It's the home of love and joy.

Don't force love or joy to arise.

Just rest back into your true home and they will come when they are ready.

Just as sure as the sun will rise.
