This is a poem about seeing the beauty in aging that Christopher wrote with many of his students in mind. There is a soft beauty in growing old, a beauty that our culture overlooks in the quest for eternal youth. Christopher hopes with this poetic advice, to touch the hearts of those dear to him.

The Poem by Christopher Manning The Quiet Joys In stillness of the evening's gentle light,

Find sweet small joys that grace the coming night.

A whispered breeze,

A softly spoken word,

The tranquil song of twilight's distant bird.

In memories let tender moments bloom,

A warm embrace within the quiet room.

With heart at peace embrace the slowing days,

And find your joy in life's simplest displays.

The warmth of sun,

The soft caress of rain,

The tender touch that soothes the deepest pain.

In growing old these treasures hold you near,

Sweet joys of stillness ever bright and clear.
