This meditation helps guide you to quickly refocusing your attention to present sounds and senses. What are circuit breakers? These short meditations provide swift relief from the cycles of stress and tension that many of us feel during a hard day at the office. They are specifically designed to break that cycle, without needing to take time out of your day.

Transcript

Welcome to this circuit breaker on first sound.

Gently allow your eyes to close.

What's the first sound you hear?

Stay with that sound for a few moments,

Resting your attention on it.

It may be something very close to you like a ticking clock or a distant hum of traffic.

It may have been a one-off punctuated sound like a dog's bark and you holding your mind.

Listen like music to where the notes start and stop.

Length and fullness,

Any pauses or spaces between the sounds.

If your attention turns to other things you can return to the same sound or go to another one.

You're just listening,

Noticing what's there.

Everything you've heard has been there all along and when you're ready you can open your eyes.
