Have you ever noticed how we often wait until something's wrong before we pause?
We turn to meditation when we're stressed or overwhelmed or anxious,
And that's totally valid.
But there's something special about showing up even when things are okay,
Even when life feels normal or quiet or just unremarkable.
Right now,
Nothing needs to be fixed.
There's nowhere else that you need to be.
So let's simply be here.
Let's start with a breath in through the nose,
And let it go gently through your mouth.
As we breathe,
We're just feeling the air enter and leave the body.
There's no need to control it,
We're just noticing.
We're just noticing how the breath moves through you,
Moves you,
That subtle rise and soft fall.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Feeling your body wherever you are,
Maybe you're sitting or lying down.
Where do you feel most grounded?
Just let your attention settle there for a few seconds.
This moment doesn't have to be dramatic or profound.
It can just be this,
You're breathing,
Noticing.
What do you say,
Let's take a few more breaths together,
With each inhale,
Just feel the simplicity of just being.
And with each exhale,
Feel the ease and not needing to change a thing.
And if your mind starts searching for a reason to meditate right now,
Like,
What's the point if nothing's wrong?
Well,
That's okay.
And just gently smile at the thought.
Because the point isn't to fix something,
It's to be with something.
This breath,
This moment,
This whole life.
Let's take a quick scan through the body right now.
Just a soft check in.
There's no need to go deep.
Just a casual hello to a friend.
Starting with the crown of your head.
Can you feel any sensation there?
Down to your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your jaw.
Noticing if there's any tightness.
If there is,
Great.
And if not,
Also great.
There is no goal here except awareness.
Dropping into your shoulders,
Your arms,
Your hands.
Feeling the weight of gravity holding you.
Just let yourself be held.
Now the chest and belly.
Feel that breath moving you from the inside and out.
The hips,
Your legs,
Your feet.
Maybe even the contact between your body and the floor or the chair.
We're just taking a moment here.
We're sitting in quiet presence with yourself.
We're not trying to get anywhere.
We're not chasing peace or solving a feeling.
We're just resting in this simple truth.
You are here and that is enough.
You know,
John Kabat-Zinn writes,
Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way,
On purpose,
In the present moment,
And non-judgmentally.
And that's exactly what we've done here.
You've taken a few minutes to pay attention,
On purpose,
Without needing a reason.
So,
As you move through the rest of your day,
See if you can notice if you can return to this ease.
Not because you're anxious,
Not because you're overwhelmed,
But just because it feels good to come home to yourself.
This moment is always here,
And you are always allowed to pause and enjoy it,
For no particular reason other than just because.
May you be happy,
May you be healthy,
And may you be at peace.
Thank you so much for joining me.
