Hi there,
So let's talk about finding happiness in the present moment.
It's so easy to get caught in the idea that happiness lives somewhere down the road,
Once we get the job,
Or the relationship,
Or the house,
Or whatever.
But what if the doorway to joy is actually right here,
In this breath,
In this moment.
Let's try it.
Let's settle in,
And as you do,
Just bring some awareness to your breath.
You don't need to change it,
Just feel it.
Let it remind you that you're alive right now.
Notice your body,
How it's being held,
Supported,
And see if outside of this meditation you can notice any sounds around you,
Near or far.
Just taking in this moment as it is.
And you might find your mind drifting away,
To-do lists,
Or regrets,
Or worries.
That's okay.
Just gently bring your attention back,
Back to the breath,
Back to this moment.
There's this quiet kind of happiness that can only be found when we stop running.
It's not about ignoring the past or the future.
It's just about not missing this.
Consider this,
What simple thing right now can bring you joy?
The warmth of the sunlight?
The rhythm of your breath?
A moment of stillness?
When we pay attention,
Happiness often shows up in the smallest of ways.
It doesn't need to be earned,
Or chased,
Just noticed.
As Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us,
There is no way to happiness.
Happiness is the way.
So what if you let today be a part of the way?
Not a means to an end,
But an end itself.
A moment worth living fully,
Just as it is.
Okay,
So,
Let's take one more breath,
And let that be enough.
Thanks so much for joining me.
