So let's start to slow down.
There's something sacred about this part of the day.
That moment when everything finally begins to quiet.
Maybe your body's feeling heavy.
Maybe your mind's still buzzing with little to do's.
That's okay.
You made it here to this moment and now it's time to rest.
So wherever you are,
Curled under blankets,
Lying back on the couch,
Or just resting in a darkened room,
See if you can let yourself fully arrive here.
This is your space to let go.
Now let's start by taking a slow deep breath in and an even slower breath out.
Deep breath in.
Slow breath out.
As you keep breathing,
With every exhale,
See if you can feel your shoulders dropping just a little.
Feel the air move gently through your nose.
Feel the pull of gravity welcoming you downward.
Try not to focus too much on actually falling asleep.
Nothing needs to happen.
You're safe.
You're just in a space where you're allowed to do nothing right now.
Take another breath in and soften as you breathe out.
And just start to bring your attention to your body.
Gently scanning the top of the head,
All the way down to the tips of your toes,
And not trying to fix anything,
Not changing anything.
Just noticing.
You might feel warmth or coolness,
Tension or ease.
All of it's welcome.
The crown of the head,
Feeling any sensations there.
Moving to your forehead,
Letting it soften with every breath out.
Releasing your jaw,
Letting your shoulders grow heavy,
Sinking into the surface beneath you.
Noticing the gentle weight of your arms,
The softness in your hands.
Letting your breath move like waves,
Effortless,
Slow.
And if your mind starts to wander,
That's okay.
That's what minds do.
When you recognize it,
Just gently return to the feeling of the body and the rise and fall of your breath.
Just feeling your whole body being held by the bed,
By the quiet.
Nothing's being asked of you.
You don't have to fix anything.
You don't have to plan for tomorrow.
All of that can wait.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Breathing in.
And gently sigh it out.
If it feels helpful,
You can silently say to yourself,
I am here.
I am safe.
I can rest now.
There's no rush.
There's no pressure.
Just this soft,
Floating feeling.
Letting the quiet wrap around you like a warm blanket.
Letting your muscles melt.
The day is done.
You've done enough.
You are enough.
And now it's time to let go.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Drift off as you like.
Or stay with the breath.
Either way,
You are on your way to sleep.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
As you slip further into stillness,
Remember this.
Rest isn't something to earn.
It's something you deserve.
So as you move deeper into this quiet night,
Let yourself fully receive it.
Let it hold you.
Let it soothe you.
And let it take you home,
One breath at a time.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
