Let's do a coffee meditation,
Huh?
You know,
For many of us,
That first cup in the morning feels sacred.
But so often we drink it while distracted.
We're scrolling our phones or planning our day or we're already somewhere else in our minds.
But what if we turn that first sip into a practice?
Let's try it.
So,
Take that cup of coffee in your hands.
Let's close our eyes,
Take a deep breath in,
And let it out.
And bring your attention to the cup in your hands.
Feel its warmth radiating into your fingers.
Notice the scent.
Earthy,
Rich,
Familiar.
Just drawing you into the present moment.
And if you can,
Take a slow sip.
You can let that liquid linger on your tongue in your mouth.
And then,
Feel it travel warm and steady down your throat into your belly.
Feeling that warmth spreading.
Just pause here.
Breath in,
Breath out.
This has the opportunity to be more than a morning ritual.
It can be a moment of connection.
With yourself,
With the people who grew and harvested the beans,
Or the hands that prepared it,
Or just with the present moment itself.
Yeah,
Gratitude can live in something as simple as a cup of coffee.
And joy can too.
It's like Thich Nhat Hanh once said,
Drink your tea slowly and reverently,
As if it is the axis on which the world revolves.
Slowly,
Evenly,
Without rushing toward the future.
So,
This morning,
See if you can let that coffee be your axis.
Let it remind you that every moment is an opportunity to wake up.
Thank you so much for joining me.
