Feel the love as you fall asleep in this romantic bedtime story and meditation for grownups.

You are listening to a Paris love story.

In this calm sleep story,

You arrive in Paris by train for a night of romance and love with a companion of your choice.

Perhaps this is someone you have met or someone who awaits you in the future.

Steven Chomsky wrote,

We accept the love we think we deserve.

When you frolic through Paris on a snowy night,

You connect with the greatest love you may experience in this lifetime.

Because that is what you deserve.

If you find yourself longing for more romantic love in your life,

Or for a chance to connect with magical energy that heightens the feeling of being alive,

Then this story is for you.

So cuddle up and prepare to be pampered in Paris where you will enjoy a walk by the Seine,

Eiffel Tower views,

A cozy speakeasy,

And a charming historic apartment as you cuddle by the fire and snow flurries fall on the city of lights.

It's time to dream away.

I would like to welcome you to Michelle's Sanctuary.

I am Michelle and as you listen,

Please think of me as a nurturing friend who wants you to experience the best in this life.

I am here to remind you of what is possible.

You are worthy of great love.

When you open yourself to unlimited potential and experiences,

Your mind shifts and you begin to attract the experiences you desire.

This time before sleep is sacred and every night you have the power to use it to feel good.

On the wings of your imagination,

You can set the tone for your night of dreams.

And within those dreams you may receive insights about who you are and what you desire.

So you may awaken when you are ready,

Feeling fresh and empowered to make the choices so that every day counts.

You are your best advocate and know what will satisfy your needs.

Savor the freedom to listen to this as you like,

Letting your mind wander to what feels best.

Every day you are different than the day before.

And each time you listen to this story,

You may have a very different experience.

I encourage you to enjoy the fluidity of life and change.

Embrace where you are right now.

Wrap your arms around your tired body in a hug.

Remind yourself of how good love can feel.

And that profound expression of love begins with you.

By loving who you are and where you are right now.

With acceptance and understanding,

It is not about being perfect.

It is not about the past or figuring it all out.

It is as simple as loving yourself in this moment as you are.

Cuddle into your bed and feel the joy that comes in the sanctuary of your room and mind when you are safe.

With the enthusiasm of a giggly child before bed,

You enjoy the sensation of your blanket and pillows.

Because it's fun.

Because the simplest of tactile pleasures can soothe you and feel great.

Your eyelids are heavy on your tired eyes.

Take in a deep breath,

The deepest of the day,

And feel your belly rise.

And think of these words,

I am full.

Open your mouth into a big yawn and sigh and think of the words of love.

Inhale again following your breath as it flows to the deepest parts of you.

I am full.

And open your mouth in a yawn,

The exhalation cascades in a sigh of love.

And one more round at your leisure.

Inhale I am full.

And exhale of love.

Love comes in all forms.

And romantic experiences may exist as much with friends and loved ones as they do with a romantic partner.

A soft wind,

Silky petals,

The magenta glow of a setting sun as it casts the world in shimmering gold dust,

The twinkle in someone's eyes,

Feelings of enchantment and whimsy,

Being seen and appreciated for all your quirks.

All of these sensations are conjured by a rush of dopamine and hope.

Perhaps you are someone who deeply enjoys spoiling those you love and have a hard time receiving.

Tonight is yours to be spoiled and showered with kindness.

It is a reminder that just because you may have not yet experienced all the things you long for,

It doesn't mean they aren't just around the corner.

And with this hope,

The story begins.

On a winter afternoon,

You sink into a purple velvet chair of a train that weaves its way through cities and mountainous landscapes on the journey from Basel,

Switzerland to Paris,

France.

For three hours,

You dreamily stare out the windows at the cinematic landscape as it rolls by,

And you imagine the night in store.

You have only one night in Paris to spend with your dearest love.

They have planned an evening of romance.

A box of Swiss chocolates sits in your lap as you envision sitting by the fire and sharing these delicacies together.

You selected each handmade truffle with care that morning.

So much of romance is found in the imagined and the anticipation of wondrous possibilities.

And when these fantasies become reality,

You may feel that the entire universe conspired to bring two souls together.

You see your beloved's face in the sky,

In glassy lakes,

In snow-capped mountains,

And in colorful facades of half-timbered homes in Colmar.

Most vividly you imagine their smile and their eyes when you say something or do something that amuses them and stirs the deep love they feel for you.

What's more is there is a special spark and look that only you can conjure on their face.

It's the same there is a certain gaze and glint in your eyes that is reserved just for them.

You are on a journey of self-love.

Traveling through Europe,

You connected with the sacred energy found on walks through narrow cobblestone lanes and cities and villages,

Rife with history of the souls who came before you.

You have grown.

You have rediscovered parts of yourself that you may have forgotten along the way.

You have come to a place where everything is aligned within you and has prepared you for this great,

Nurturing love.

A quiet hum of the train is the soundtrack for hopes that float through your mind and arouse the soft flutter of butterflies when you think of your love.

These butterflies are unlike others,

As they are soon replaced with a calm wave of trust inspired by this relationship.

As the train pulls into Paris and the brakes softly squeal,

You take in a deep breath and smile.

The lingering smells of floral perfumes and coffee fill the train car and when the doors open,

You are met with the flinty smell of wet pavement and fresh snow.

You rise and adjust your coat and grab your luggage and file out slowly after other passengers.

Some are returning home.

Some are traveling to Paris for the first time.

But as you step out onto the platform,

You are ready to experience the city of love on your terms.

It's not the Paris of movies or old cliches.

It is your Paris.

And perhaps there are other places.

Strong placeholders in your overflowing banks of joyous memories that retain a version that is just for you.

For no one has experienced Paris in the same way you have or you will.

Your limited time on this trip heightens the beauty and scents to preserve each sensation and moment.

It connects you to the spectacular now.

You are one of the last passengers to disembark.

You step out into the damp cool air and see your person waiting on the platform.

Perhaps this love has been with you for most of your life.

Or perhaps you met later in life.

Or maybe you have yet to connect on the physical plane.

Perhaps it is someone from your past with whom you have reconnected.

Or maybe this is the person you have dreamt of having in your life for quite some time.

You step onto the platform and time freezes when your eyes are locked on one another.

You instinctively know you will be remarkably changed by this night.

The surge of ecstasy is felt beneath your sternum and spreads a wave of warmth that counters the chill of February.

An otherworldly whisper comes to you.

This is what you wanted.

Enjoy it.

Your partner walks to you and embraces you in a tight hug that feels like home.

You could be together anywhere in the world and feel like you are home.

A wave of emotions changes as beautifully as the jewel-toned colors of a kaleidoscope.

Happiness.

Passion.

Peace.

Wonder.

Gratitude.

The familiar and the unknown exist all at once.

And you are in a place to appreciate and acknowledge every one of these feelings before you let them go.

Through your winter layers,

You can feel each other's heartbeat as you hug for a few moments longer than you normally would.

Take in a deep breath and their natural pheromones send a message of alignment and safety throughout your nervous system.

This is exactly how it should be.

Your partner rubs their hand across your back as you step away from the embrace and present the box of Swiss chocolates.

They smile and inform you that many surprises are in store for you on this romantic night.

The car waits outside the station and the shiny street glistens from melted snow.

Flurries dance with the gentle grace of opal flakes in a snow globe.

The driver opens the door of the black sedan.

You slide across the warm backseat with your partner as the driver stows your luggage in the trunk.

You snuggle in the backseat,

Focusing on every feature of your partner's face.

You feel relief that this moment is real.

The car peels out onto the room and you ride along the Seine and past Notre Dame Cathedral.

The heat vent blows on your legs and you lean your forehead against the cool glass of the window and look out onto the city as nightfall arrives.

A song begins to play.

One that you always associated with love.

The song is one you have heard and longed to be close to a partner,

Dancing in a kitchen,

Feeling silly.

As the music plays,

You look at your partner and smile,

Thinking to yourself that you have what you wanted.

And the journey to this moment made it all the more worthwhile.

The city lights twinkle.

Snowflake crystals fall and melt on the cobblestones.

The second song begins to play.

One that always makes you smile.

It cannot be a coincidence,

So you ask the driver how he came upon this playlist.

He heartily laughs and says something in French,

Pretending to not understand you.

When the third song comes on,

You laugh as well.

This is no coincidence.

Your date shrugs playfully.

And like an old mix tape,

The melodies have set the tone for the night to unfold.

You feel as though you are living within the song,

Within a dream,

And within a movie of your own making.

The car stops outside an elegant 19th century apartment building.

The elephant gray façade is comprised of stones with clean lines and classic embellishments.

Black cast iron scrolls form Juliet balconies that look out onto the Eiffel Tower.

You step onto the wet sidewalk and admire the looming residents.

It is all yours for the night to take in.

It has the aura of fanciful castles passed on your train journeys through Europe.

You gather your luggage and walk through the entrance to a courtyard where horses and carriages once gathered in an era gone by.

Your partner leads you through the opulent lobby illuminated by a chandelier to the second floor of the Haussmannian building.

Historically,

The second floor was reserved for nobility.

You walk down the warm corridor to the apartment,

Feeling a sense of safety within the tasteful ivory walls and high ceilings.

Your date opens the door into the sprawling apartment.

The golden lights of Paris pour in through the floor to ceiling windows and give the perfect vantage point to take in the Eiffel Tower.

Crown moldings accentuate the lofty space and it is decorated in colors that soothe you.

The apartment is designed exactly how you would want it to be.

Your partner knew this when they booked a night at this home away from home.

You place down your luggage and explore the bedroom.

The antique four-poster king-sized bed is sandwiched between two nightstands that house crystal vases that overflow with vibrant flowers offering the promise of spring.

For a moment you contemplate the splendor of a night spent cuddling inside,

But you look to the open doors of an armoire to discover a brand new outfit is hung inside.

Your partner explains that you deserve to have something new to wear on this festive night.

You run your hands across the lush fabric and smile.

This is exactly what you would have chosen for yourself.

It exemplifies what you love most about your body.

When you are changed into this new outfit,

You feel confident and attractive.

It amazes you how simple garments can cause you to radiate by vastity and joy.

In this moment they are a reflection of everything you want to be.

You are deeply touched by how well your beloved knows you and has curated every detail to make you feel seen and noticed.

It is something you do for others,

But receiving takes you to a place where there are no words.

You surrender to the night and the plans in store.

Together you return to the city streets where couples walk arm in arm with their dogs on leashes.

You arrive at the Champs de Mars,

The Field of Mars,

The peaceful park below the Eiffel Tower.

Crystal domes are spread throughout the snow-dusted field to serve as dining quarters for a pop-up restaurant.

It is but a once in a lifetime opportunity to dine directly beneath the glow of the Eiffel Tower.

Lavender and forget-me-nots are recreated with soft purple and indigo glass lights that illuminate the field and reflect off the white coating of snow.

As you wait to be seated,

You stand behind an elderly couple deeply in love.

Their story is not like what most imagine,

That they were high school sweethearts who grew old together.

But in truth,

They met much later in life.

Later they had given up on the idea of romance and finding a partner.

A chance encounter at a café ordering croissants would forever change their destiny in this final and most cherished act.

Their chemistry is so strong,

Their love so apparent,

That it is palpable to anyone who observes them.

Their animated French conversation has the nuances,

Rhythm,

And vocal melodies of lovers who have written their own score.

In this brief encounter,

You recognize in them an enduring ability to always have something to say to one another.

They could live for another century and the conversation would play on.

The couple settles in a crystal dome close to the one where your party is seated.

You may observe them beneath the Eiffel Tower.

It is warm and cheerful inside the glass enclosure.

The host pulls out the ornate velvet chairs that even Napoleon would approve of.

You and your partner comfortably settle into the space.

Strong tapered candles burn and illuminate the table.

A card adorned with a pressed purple iris has your name handwritten in fountain pen.

It is a keepsake you will hold onto to remember this night.

Purple irises represent hope and admiration.

The dining experience is magical and one that could be found blissful despite the company you keep.

At the same time,

You would be happy in any location with your partner.

You find the greatest pleasure in walking alongside them and listening to their voice as they aim to make meaning of life and the world.

So together the convergence of this rare happening with someone you deeply enjoy is transcendent.

Your date tells you how amazing you look in your new outfit.

It fits as though it was made to only be worn by you.

You speak from your heart when you compliment them as well.

They are vibrant and beautiful.

Everything about the moment exudes charm and benevolence.

Paris is a place that touches the heart.

Metaphorically and physically,

Even the buttery croissants,

Soufflés,

And oozing cheeses aim to stake their territory with their unctuous impressions on the heart.

Every flavor of France that you most enjoy finds its way to the table and leaves its lasting impression on your palate.

Whenever the fragrant notes of these dishes waft on the air in the future,

You will drift on memory bubbles that bring you back to this night in the crystal dome.

Whenever you crack open a fresh warm baguette or taste the aromatic elixir that you now imbibe,

You will be transported to thoughts of Paris.

The conversation flows with ease and every now and then you look to the older couple and watch their conversation affectionately carry on with similar fluidity.

There are still stories to share that you have not told one another and you look forward to every one of them.

Every tale that is new to your ears serves to bring you closer.

And every story you reveal serves to remind you of who you are and who you wish to be.

Your person supports you in all you wish to become,

As fervently as you support them.

Satiated your belly feels warm and as comfort spreads through your body.

Your date asks if you might enjoy a walk through Paris.

You take the place card and slip it into your coat pocket.

You agree and leave the crystal dome to step out into the fresh air.

The older couple remains and they look to you and smile.

You wave back and in an unspoken exchange the four of you reveal appreciation for witnessing another loving couple on this winter night.

You walk to the edge of the field to see an artist sitting beneath the glow of a street lamp in a makeshift awning.

This paintbrush graces the page with quick strokes as he adds white flurries on a painting that captures the glittering domes and field of lavender lights that lead towards the gleaming Eiffel Tower.

You continue to walk towards the zen,

Focused on each celestial snowflake that lands on your partner's eyelashes.

With arms wrapped around one another,

You walk along the river that ripples like a broad ebony satin ribbon.

Your partner pauses and when you stop they surprise you with a kiss beneath the Eiffel Tower.

Millions of souls may have kissed beneath the iconic statue,

But this experience is yours alone.

And you feel safe and loved.

On the way back to the apartment,

You pop into a speakeasy cafe in the basement of a club.

You would not know it was a club,

But for the hushed sounds of jazz brushstrokes on a snare drum and the mournful melody played on a muted trumpet that emanate onto the street.

You walk down a set of winding stairs into the basement,

Lit by the glow of candles and a rainbow of Moroccan lanterns that drape down from the ceiling.

The space is intimate and dreamy,

With smells of absinthe,

Cinnamon,

Orange peels and cloves.

You sit at a tiny table in the corner,

Where you may look to watch the band and other patrons who are grossly engaged in the music they share with loved ones.

Like your experience at dinner,

You have privacy and intimacy while being able to observe other people.

The warm air and energy of the room allow you to forget that it is winter.

You sit on a burgundy velvet and gold stool,

And reflect on the softness of fabrics and seats that have been part of your day's journey.

You and your partner order special elixirs that you try for the first time,

Excited by the newness of the intricate concoctions.

When the graceful waitress delivers your drinks,

You savor each note in the complex beverages,

And then exchange with your partner to try theirs.

You deeply appreciate this moment of trying something new together,

And when you discover you prefer one another's selections more,

You agree to make the exchange permanent.

Your date's hand brushes against yours,

And you grasp your fingers around their palm and look into their eyes.

A standard ballad that conjures the glamour of 1920's Paris reverberates through the club.

And as you look into your partner's eyes,

You say thank you.

You could thank them for a million things,

And this one gaze reveals all of them.

Your bodies are close together,

And you lean against the gold and emerald silk wallpaper that lines the walls of the speakeasy.

Gold mirror tiles on the ceiling reflect the flickering candlelight and the musicians.

When you look directly overhead,

You see yourselves,

A happy couple in love,

Who are both lost in the music,

Happily floating on each melodic wave.

And when the band takes a break,

With one look you decide it's time to return to the palatial apartment and relax by the fire.

On the midnight walk through the narrow lanes,

You are so content that you float through the chilly air.

The sounds of tires on the slick streets,

Of chatter from patrons lingering outside bistros,

In languages you do not understand,

And the mineral smell of the wet cobblestones enhance the historic international allure of Paris.

You return to the apartment,

And your partner prepares the fire in the spacious living room.

You remove a black and gold matchbook taken from the speakeasy,

And light pillared candles around the room.

You open the box of Swiss chocolates,

And set them on a coffee table near the sofa.

Once the fire is roaring and firewood is crackling and popping,

You and your partner curiously peruse the bookshelves that run from the floor to ceiling.

They overflow with well-worn books that tell the greatest of love stories.

You feel blessed to be surrounded by these printed words,

The light of the fire,

And the glowing Eiffel Tower outside the window.

There is a record player nestled within a built-in cabinet that holds as many vinyl albums as the bookshelves hold books.

You run your finger across the thin album covers.

When your partner's finger lands near yours,

And selects one,

They pull out the album and you smile.

It contains yet another beloved song,

Captured on vinyl at a time when most music is enjoyed digitally.

Perhaps the song is upbeat,

And perhaps the tempo is adagio,

But the song is one you have always wanted to move to with someone you love.

They place it on the turntable,

And the needle lands to fill the room with a warm,

Soft crackle before the song begins.

You dance together spontaneously for the sake of feeling each other's body and the wonderfulness of being alive.

Without thought,

But full of feeling,

You dance before the window.

And if a Parisian were to look into the apartment from the street,

They would have a glimpse of two people deeply in love,

In a city of love.

The Eiffel Tower is between you,

Glowing through the window as the song comes to an end,

And you comfortably settle on the sofa and watch the fire.

The album continues to play in the background as you indulge in the chocolate truffles,

Savoring and sharing each one.

For you have traveled so far to enjoy this moment,

And you deserve to taste every bit of sweetness it has to offer.

Moment by moment,

The night plays out how you desire.

Together you exist in a world of your own creation.

And when you can no longer keep your eyes open,

Together you retire to the regal bed,

Ready for sleep.

And while dreams await you in the comforts of the four-poster bed,

Beneath the plush comforter and atop the downy pillows,

You have most enjoyed this waking dream.

For once your waking life has surpassed the beauty of your nighttime dreams.

You feel comfort,

You feel loved,

You feel appreciated,

You feel noticed,

You feel strong,

You feel deeply relaxed.

And with a sensation of mutually shared bliss and gratitude,

You both surrender to sleep.

And I am going to count you down to a night of healing,

Restorative and pleasurable sleep.

Ten,

Nine,

Eight,

Seven,

Six,

Five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

Finding rest,

Finding respite,

Finding hope,

Finding peace,

Finding sleep.

It's time to dream away.

Good night.

I was having a great time imagining my OCs when suddenly she says, "crack open a fresh, warm baguette" (with the boys) and I couldn't stop laughing. Questionable phrasing aside, A+ would listen to again!
