Good evening.

This visualization will take you on a winter's journey through the woods to the safe and cozy confines of a log cabin where you may bunker down for a winter's snowstorm.

Safe and warm and ready to take this winter's night adventure.

As you lie down,

You find yourself feeling heavy and relaxed with a bed supporting you below and a blanket or covers containing you as you snuggle and release tensions from the day.

Slowing down your breath and giving yourself the time to connect to your breath.

Right now.

And whenever you hear me utter the words right now,

You will focus on your breath and the present moment with a feeling of relaxation and contentment becoming magnified.

Allow all your air to escape.

Just sigh it out.

Doesn't it feel good to sigh?

You may even let that sigh turn into a great big yawn because now you are alone and permitted to do whatever you need to do to ease into this state of relaxation.

Now we will take a few breaths together,

Breathing in and breathing out and breathing in and breathing out.

And each time,

See if you can go just a little deeper,

Letting the soothing night air go to the deepest part of your belly as your abdomen expands and your ribs rise and all the air goes to the tips of your collarbones before you release and exhale.

Because all that tension and contraction is very much okay.

Our muscles and body rely on being tense and then releasing.

But sometimes through habits of stress or when we stop paying attention to our bodies,

The tension stockpiles in hidden places.

But right now,

You can clear out that tension,

Finding it in the hidden attics and compartments of the body and finding your body opening like a set of large white double doors.

Breathing and releasing any tension or holding and watching this tension as it flies away into the night,

Leaving you to feel at ease and at peace.

Visualize that you are walking deep in the forest on a snowy day.

The sun has yet to set and is just breaking through in radiant warm golden beams of light through the approaching heavy clouds.

It even smells like snow all around.

And as this golden sunlight hits the blanket of snow that covers the otherwise barren trees and the forest floor,

It's almost as if every little snowflake is glittering and sparkling in its beautiful iridescence.

And you close your eyes and inhale and feel the golden light from the almost setting sun shining on you.

And like the glittery snow,

You feel alive all over as if the cells of your body are sparkling and tingling as well,

Coming alive with a sunlight that makes such limited appearances this time of year.

And you know another big snowstorm is coming.

You heard it from the people in town this morning.

Everyone was excitedly gathering supplies and getting prepared for the biggest snowstorm of the season.

And you as well have prepared and feel safe knowing you will weather the storm just fine.

You have been waiting for this moment of solitude in the woods in your safe little cabin,

Knowing how much you deserve and desire this respite.

You continue to walk through the path warmly bundled in your puffy coat and velvety scarf.

A wind reaches your face and it is biting cold,

But in a way that feels invigorating and refreshing.

The heavy rubber soles of your boots crunch in the snowy blanket on the path and you walk towards a frozen stream as a pair of rabbits race ahead of you,

Hurrying to their shelter from the storm.

And you approach this dark stream that's breaking through the floating ice,

The ice like miniature silvery glaciers,

And you watch as a fawn gently laps a drink of water from the crystal water flowing downstream.

Your eyes meet with a silent understanding of what is to come and you feel the peace that comes with a shared experience with the beautiful animals that occupy the same forest where your cabin awaits.

And as the wind picks up and the sun begins to set below the horizon,

You enjoy the last light of dusk on this walk,

Knowing this will be the last time you venture outdoors before the storm and before the night takes hold.

You approach the winding path towards the clearing where your cabin awaits and you take a trip to the woodshed where you have carefully piled enough logs to get you through the winter.

It is getting darker by the minute and the howling wind and crisp sound of snow beneath your feet are all that you hear in the forest.

The clouds are heavy and dreamy,

Silver and grey and coming in more quickly than the earlier clouds that just hung in the sky.

You grab four logs from the woodshed,

Hugging them towards your person,

Feeling how solid and strong they are,

Knowing how in this life you have exercised these same qualities of strength and being solid when called upon.

And you continue to crunch through the snow as the wet flakes melt on your cheeks and nose.

They are now rosy and numb and the logs are heavy but dry,

Giving you a sense of purpose as you trudge ahead towards your cabin.

And as you approach the home,

You can smell the burning fire from within as a dark plume of smoke escapes the chimney and the wind brings it to you.

And from the outside looking in,

The windows are all aglow in warm tones of light emanating from inside.

The wind howling about you outside makes you feel so grateful for this cozy cabin that you have all to yourself waiting to shield you from the storm.

You climb up the wooden stairs carefully,

Taking one step at a time until you reach the deck.

Snow is starting to drift a few inches on the stairs against the door,

Courtesy of the wind that is picking up in intensity.

You approach the doormat and it reads,

This must be the place.

You scrape your boots against the mat,

Shaking off any excess snow and you balance the cut logs at your side as you turn the rustic doorknob on the hand carved wooden door.

Instantly a warm wave of air rushes out the door towards you,

Bringing with it a mixture of aromas of pine and cinnamon and burning wood.

The warm air is beckoning you,

Hooking its welcoming fingers around your person and enveloping you fully as you step within and close the door,

Setting the logs in a bin in the foyer.

The cabin is cozy but expansive with tiered ceilings overhead and exposed wooden beams.

And from the beams there are lanterns hanging and containing burning candles that flicker and create waves of light and shadows on the deep amber log walls.

You strip off the wet layers,

Starting with your boots and socks and your jacket and hat and gloves and scarf,

Rubbing your hands together.

And your hands and face have a burning sensation that feels quite nice as the heat returns to them.

Feeling quite tired and heavy,

You approach the main room where your robe and slippers are waiting and you change into them,

Feeling the plush and furry fabric nuzzling against your skin.

The wind whips around the cabin,

Whistling in the night and you hear as the snow has become heavy and is tapping against the roof as it falls more steadily.

The curtains are open and you see the snow pelting against the windows,

Specks of white and an otherwise dark exterior.

Everything about your cabin is inviting and comfortable as if its sole purpose is to create a warm and kind environment for relaxation.

Just in front of the fire is an oversized chair covered in whatever color material you like.

You could easily fit two of you in it.

And when you approach this chair and sink down,

The chair welcomes you like a warm hug.

And there is a blanket and number of pillows waiting for you that allow you to nestle in,

Getting closer to the dancing flames in the fireplace,

Feeling so very warm and even enchanted.

And next to the chair is a table with an oversized mug that fills both of your palms when you pick it up and in it contains your favorite winter beverage,

A hot malt cider or tea and honey or a hot toddy or maybe hot cocoa with whipped cream.

Whatever potion you prefer is there,

Warm just for you as you take a sip and feel the warm liquid cascading down through your body,

Warming you from the inside out.

You listen to the rhythmic crackling and popping of the fireplace,

Feeling heavy,

Feeling content.

And maybe there is a pet that comes to sleep at your feet,

A kitten or a puppy or if you have a pet or even if you would like to,

Who soaks in the fire's warmth with you.

And the night feels like a dream or a fairy tale you once heard as a small child,

Spectacular and comforting,

Resonating deeply with dreams you may have had before.

You continue sipping your drink and like a sleep tonic,

It causes you to feel more tired,

Your lids becoming heavy and your limbs and body sinking deeper and deeper down into your seat.

And right now you just take in the beauty of this room through your tired eyes,

The colors and decorum that you have chosen,

Fully designed in the way you always wanted.

And above the fireplace is a mantle where candles burn and a bow of evergreen branches hang across,

Tinting the scent of the room.

And you look along the photos lined in an array of frames above the mantle.

And every photograph represents a time in your life when you felt alive and content,

When you are embarking on a new adventure or accomplishing a great feat,

Capturing moments with those who love you and who love you best.

The mantle holds a representation of all that has made you proud to be you.

You feel the tranquility of the moment,

Closing your eyes as the heaviness of your lids is winning over any desire to stay awake.

Drifting and drifting like the drifts of snow piling outside,

You go with the moment,

You surrender,

Closing your eyes.

And as you close your eyes,

Memories of joy come flooding to you and you feel yourself at the top of a very steep hill,

Sitting on a sled.

It is a time when there are no concerns or stresses and you just live in the moment.

And as you inhale,

You ready yourself.

And you exhale as you push off,

Sliding down the snowy hill and you reach your arms out in the air,

Feeling as though you are so free,

As if you are flying,

Soaring through the winter's landscape,

Feeling that anything is possible because it is.

In this moment,

Anything you wish to experience or dream can happen right now.

And outside,

The snow continues to cover your cabin,

But inside,

You feel safe and warm and at peace,

Realizing how easy it is to weather a storm when life affords you such comfort and shelter,

Feeling grateful and at ease,

Happy and warm.

The candles around the room continue to flicker.

The fire continues to burn and inside you feel a warm orb warming your torso and all your inner organs as you inhale and exhale serene,

Plugged into the moment and feeling all the muscles in your body tired from being used to their greatest capacity today.

But now they may rest and you may rest,

Breathing in and breathing out.

You are free to drift,

Drift further and further away to a dreamy world,

Shadows dancing around you from the fire that burns brightly,

Beautiful and serene.

And you are floating deeper and deeper down,

Drifting away closer to sleep as you inhale and exhale,

Finding surrender.

If anyone were to witness this moment,

Or you were to rise above and peer into the scene from the outside looking in,

You would see the soft and sleeping face of a person who is so very happy and relaxed,

So safe and snuggled into a beautiful place for respite.

And you will fall into a sleep with dreams of a wintery adventure,

Imagining the beautiful white blanket of fresh snow that will be there come morning,

Like a fresh start and a new beginning,

Like a clean slate,

Waiting for you to leave your footprints,

To leave your mark.

And it makes all of right now easy to let go because you can just relax.

You can drift to sleep and do all that you need to do to heal and recover from the day and still have the great fortune of a new day ahead,

With more adventures waiting for you as you let go right now,

Drifting down,

Down,

Down,

Letting your consciousness drift away with the howling wind into the night,

Traveling,

Finding rest and peace.

I am going to count you down to this restorative and beautiful dream filled sleep.

I have discovered that Michelle's sleep stories are the best llulabys. I listen to her Blue Mountain lullaby over and over and last night I tried this one. I usually wake up at least two times during the night (potty breaks). I will come back to bed, put my earphones in, start the story up again, and off to sleep I go. like magic thank you so much. my only concern is that I listened to a podcast on sleep tips and one important one they mention is to turn off your router at night because of the EMF that are detrimental to sleep. πŸ˜“
