Hello,
Welcome.
Today's meditation is entitled,
Digging Deep,
Finding You.
How many times in life are we truly tested?
Giving all that we've got.
Digging deeply to find out what we're made of.
Coming out of the darkness to see how much we can handle.
It's not easy,
This game of life.
But only until we're challenged do we find that rich,
Fertile soil.
Which is growing exactly in the middle of the night.
Which is growing exactly the fruits that we need.
Don't be afraid.
So find your comfortable seat.
And take a big belly breath in.
And a long and easeful breath out.
If you feel safe,
You're welcome to close your eyes.
Now let's point out we don't want to knowingly subject ourselves to a situation that will create darkness and danger.
It's only to say that life does presume to be a place of great obstacles and difficulties.
And to know that you can lean into yourself,
Dig deeply,
And tap into the exact resource that you need.
And it can't work any other way.
So maybe right now you're recalling an experience that caused you great angst.
Possibly sorrow,
Grief,
A giant challenge that you thought was taking you to your knees.
Notice your body.
Notice where this fear and worry land in your body.
Acknowledge and release.
And sometimes what's required is to do nothing.
To sit,
Knowing you've done your best.
Trusting you will be okay.
And waiting it out,
Riding the wave.
Come into the state of deep calm.
Physically becoming heavy.
A true state of surrender.
And in this moment of silence,
Wisdom will speak to you.
Direction will be provided and guidance will call you.
You are supported.
And as you're experiencing this depth and darkness,
Call to mind three words to describe the physical sensation of this discomfort.
And now call to mind three words to describe the emotional state of this discomfort.
Where did you go?
Notice the tendency to want to run,
Change,
Fix,
Relieve.
Very natural.
Sit through it.
This is the place of transmutation.
It works.
There will always be a next there,
But there will never be a there there unless you are here now.
And maybe in this raw,
Gritty,
Uncomfortable moment of growth,
You become very light.
You've hit rock bottom.
All the heaviness has fallen out of you.
And by sheer physics,
The only way to go is up.
Take a deep breath in.
Ride that wave.
Open the heart space.
Lift.
Receive light.
Drop back into your body.
Exhale.
And again,
Notice if you're getting the urge to run.
Do something else.
Be somewhere else.
Reach.
Grab.
Fill up with something else.
Those are empty,
Temporary solutions.
Fill up with your own belly,
Your own inner warmth and strength and power.
It will sustain you.
And it is exactly right for you.
Take one more big belly breath in and an even longer,
Soothing,
Cleansing breath out.
