Hello,
Welcome.
Today's meditation is going to be a focus on the importance of meditation.
The meditation in and of itself is not glamorous,
It is gritty and raw and rather anticlimactic.
So the practice of sitting in stillness and quietude with your thoughts,
Letting them go is simply a time of decompressing all the stimuli that have come in and found their way into your body,
Into your cells,
Into your mind.
And you're simply defragging,
Decompressing,
Allowing the mind to be clear and free,
But not in this moment.
That's what happens after the meditation.
So the process of meditating is just that,
The process of having a break from too much stimulation.
So this will be a 20 minute track with three minutes of silence in the middle.
Find your comfortable seat and be sure that you're very relaxed.
Your physical body is resting with great ease.
Drop into your bones and lift your heart high,
Breathe in.
And if you feel safe,
You're welcome to close your eyes or simply cast your gaze downward at something non-moving.
And we'll begin the meditation with the sound of the symbol and conclude the same way.
Let's meditate.
So here you are in stillness,
Undistracted,
Soft and calm.
Thoughts are popping,
Popping,
Popping.
It's okay.
Let those thoughts sputter out,
Freeing up your mind for deeper connection to any given moment and experience.
Now is not a time to worry or to plan or to finish a conversation.
Simply be you.
Feel yourself being in your skin.
Notice yourself being in your essence.
Notice how uncomfortable it might be at times.
This is okay.
This is okay.
This is years and years of compression.
Our thoughts become emotions which compress our physical body,
Creating tightness,
Tension,
Disease.
We're simply working out the kinks,
Flushing out the hoses,
Clearing away the channels,
Taking time in the process.
Maybe you can think of meditation in this metaphor.
Life is like a river,
Flowing constantly,
Flowing fast or flowing slowly,
Choppy and rough or smooth and meandering,
Carrying with it debris,
Tree trunks,
Bugs,
Leaves,
Rubbish.
And you are like a screen cutting straight across this river,
Trapping the debris of life that flows into you,
Collecting deposited gunk,
Clogging up your system and making you resistant to the flow of life.
And now meditation is the process of cleaning that screen,
Your mind,
Your body,
Your heart space,
Pulling the screen out of the river,
Removing the deposited garbage,
Polishing it,
Scrubbing it,
Cleaning it,
Clearing away all the waste that is stuck to it and then repositioning that screen back into the river of life through which now the water may flow more readily,
Making for a cleaner,
Clearer result on the other side of your meditation.
Where did you go?
Just be in the process.
Popcorn mind popping up thoughts,
Dragging you through with emotion.
Notice that the body is jumping on board with the highs and lows of the mind and release the body into ease,
Relaxation and comfort.
And for the next three minutes,
You will not hear my voice and you are free to be in your own clear state of mind.
I will wait for you.
And then reuniting with my voice,
Finding ease in your body.
Let your eyes rest heavily.
And let your head rest on the floor dressing as if you are uncomfortable.
And if you can simply wait it out.
Usually an urge a desire,
A longing that arises will preoccupy us for about ninety seconds and if we can just wait it out,
Let it pass not react,
We are rewiring our brain to be less reactive and more thoughtful.
Giving pause to the oncoming stressor and a mindful response.
Drop into your bones,
Continue your deep resting physical relaxation.
Allow the activity of your mind,
Thoughts to popcorn and sputter out.
Simply the process.
Every day sitting,
Cleaning out your screen to better receive the flow of life.
Continuing on with the analogy,
This river of life also carries nourishment,
Vitality,
Rich oxygen.
And we won't be able to receive the nourishment if we're clogged with junk.
So we must clean the screen every day.
Once a day.
Notice where in your body you're holding any tension.
Soften your chest and your belly.
And most importantly,
Soften the mental muscle.
Dropping into safety.
It's not easy but it's also not difficult.
May feel uncomfortable.
Wade it out.
Be in your skin,
Expand your cells.
Drop into ease.
And over time you'll find that you want less from the outside and you find more on the inside.
Notice where in your body you're holding your thoughts and worries.
In this moment release.
Release.
And again release.
Choosing to breathe life,
Brightening your inner light and snuff out the darkness.
Find ease in your body,
Clarity and a fond of inspiration in your heart.
And with only one minute to go,
Dropping into a sense of gratitude for your effort.
Now.
.
Re-emerging on your own time and pace.
Namaste.
