Welcome to this journey to a calm place.
In this meditation,
I'll ask you to think of a place that brings you a feeling of calm and peace.
I'll be guiding you to help visualize this place in order to generate feelings of calm and peace within you,
And to offer you some relief from any stress or tension that you might be feeling.
So first,
Find a comfortable position.
Allow yourself to settle into your seat in a way that feels most comfortable to you.
You can go ahead and close your eyes and take a deep breath.
Feel yourself settle into your seat a little more.
Take another deep breath in.
As you exhale,
Feel your shoulders relax a little.
Take another deep breath in.
Slowly breathing out and allowing yourself to relax even more.
Continue breathing at a pace and a rhythm that feels natural for you.
Now I want you to think of a place that brings you a feeling of being calm and at peace.
This place can be somewhere that you've visited before,
Or it can be an imagined place.
Someplace that maybe you've never been,
But you can imagine it to be very peaceful.
Picture yourself in this place.
Pay attention to what you see all around you.
What does this place look like?
What's surrounding you?
What do you see if you look up?
What's below you?
As you continue to look around,
What colors can you see?
Notice the details of this place.
Now imagine what sounds you might hear in this place.
What sounds that are near you?
What sounds can you hear in the distance?
Now pay attention to what physical sensations you feel in this place.
What's the temperature?
Is it warm or cool?
Can you feel a breeze on your face,
Or is the air still?
Are you touching anything?
Feeling the earth beneath your feet or your back resting against a surface?
Noticing whatever physical sensations you're feeling while you're in this place.
Now paying attention to your sense of smell,
Do you notice any particular smells in this place?
Is there a scent in the air,
Either faint or strong?
Imagine taking in the smell of this place with your next in-breath.
Take a deep breath in and release with a sigh and a smile.
Feeling your shoulders drop and your body relax.
Now take it all in,
Noticing the sights,
The sounds,
The sensations,
The smells.
Notice it all and take it all in.
Notice how you're feeling right now as you imagine this place.
Maybe you're feeling relaxed,
Calm,
Content.
What sensations do you feel in your body right now that let you know that you're feeling relaxed?
You may be feeling light or heavy.
The muscles in your shoulders and neck and jaw are soft and loose.
Stay with these feelings and sensations and enjoy them while you continue breathing slowly and gently.
Now as you're experiencing these feelings and sensations associated with this place,
Know that you can carry them with you.
And you can recall these feelings by simply taking a few moments to imagine yourself in this place again.
And now you can slowly start bringing your attention back to the place that you're in right now by bringing your awareness to your body,
Feeling yourself sitting in your chair.
Go ahead and move around a little bit.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes to return yourself back into this room and back into the present moment.
