Welcome to Divine Choices with Meg and to this Winter Solstice Meditation.

The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

A time to reflect and honor the cycles of nature.

It invites us to embrace the darkness and understand it as a time of introspection,

Healing,

And renewal.

Take a few moments to settle into a comfortable position,

Whether you're sitting or lying down.

If it feels comfortable,

Close your eyes or lower your gaze.

Relax your fingers.

Release your jaw.

Let your shoulders drop.

Allow your body to relax and your mind to gently focus on your breath.

Let's begin with some intentional breathwork.

Take a deep inhale through your nose for a count of four.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Hold that count of four at the top.

Two,

Three,

Four.

Now,

Softly exhale through your mouth for a count of six.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six.

Let's repeat that two more times.

Inhale deeply.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Hold.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Now hold for four.

And now exhale for six.

As you return to your natural rhythm of breathing,

Allow each exhale to release any tension,

Any thoughts,

Any worries.

Feel your body become heavier with each breath,

Sinking deeper into the ground beneath you.

Imagine rooting yourself into the earth like the trees in winter,

Resting and gathering energy for the growth to come in the spring.

In this stillness,

Visualize the longest night of the year surrounding you.

Picture the soft glow of candles flickering in the dark.

With each inhale,

Draw warmth from the light of the candle into your heart.

And with each exhale,

Release any heaviness,

Allowing the darkness to hold space for renewal and potential.

As you breathe in the evening or the morning's quiet,

Imagine the cold air revitalizing your spirit.

With each breath,

Acknowledge the gifts of darkness,

Of rest,

Of reflection,

Of the opportunity to nurture your inner self.

Allow this moment to be a deep time of reflection and to connection with your inner wisdom.

Now gently set a personal intention for the coming light that will emerge after this solstice.

What do you wish to cultivate as the days begin to lengthen?

Picture these intentions taking root within you as the seed is nourished in what you wish to cultivate.

Feel your heart expanding with hope and excitement for new beginnings.

A reminder that light will begin to return.

Slowly bring your awareness back to the space around you.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Feel the warmth and the energy of life returning to your body.

When you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

May this winter solstice bring you peace,

Warmth,

And a deep connection to your inner self as you embrace the darkness and look forward to the light.

Thank you for joining me in this meditation.

Namaste.
