Chanting Through The Chakras

With Heidi Hancock

In this Chanting Through the Chakras course, you will experience each of the 8 major chakras through the practice of chanting. We will chant each chakra's chant 108 times together to give you the direct experience and vibration of that chant. This is an opportunity to learn the basics about each chakra, as well as leaning into the chant for that chakra to discover which one might be beneficial for you to work with. If you have done my 40-day learn to chant course, this is a follow up to that course for all my students who want to go deeper and discover what chant they want to work with next. If you have not done that course, it's absolutely fine to start here as well. This will give you a toe-dip into chanting as we do only one round of 108 for each chant. The energy of each chakra holds powerful archetypal messages and an overall story of our own evolution. Pairing it with a chant can open you up to deeper and more experiential understandings of it within your own body. Benefits of chanting include: healing from grief or loss, physically and metaphorically "getting your voice," overcoming fear and anxiety, feeling more grounded, experiencing balance and stability, learning to trust, and anchoring in self confidence. Pairing it with a chakra can open up even deeper healing within the properties that chakra holds. If you are new to chanting, or you've been chanting a while and want to challenge yourself with a 40-day set, considered joining my 40-day learn to chant course. Let's dive into the chakras and see what they have to share with us.

Meet your Teacher

Heidi is a spiritual teacher, mentor, energy healer, channel, medium, reiki master and astrologer. In her energy healing practice, she often works with the energy centers of the body to help balance misaligned energy that causes disruption in the body on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. As such, she has developed an understanding of the energetic property that each chakra holds. Learning about this, even a little bit, allows us to begin to understand the magic that lives in the human body on multiple levels, and also the inherent healing properties available as well. Heidi began chanting in 2009 out of necessity during a very difficult period of grief. She discovered the power of mantra, of chanting in repetition, and the deep power of doing this practice for a 40-day cycle. Mantra is a quantum technology that helps to move stuck energy out of the body. As grief is stored in the lungs, any chanting practice will help move grief, but with the added bonus of attention and intention in your practice, you can receive incredible benefits beyond that.

Lesson 1

Root Chakra

We begin with the root chakra at the base of the spine, and the paired chant Ganesha Sharanam, Sharanam Ganesha. Ganesh, or Ganesha, is the elephant headed deity said to be the remover of obstacles. Sharanam means refuge, so we are saying, “I take refuge in Ganesh,” or “I sit in the sanctuary of Ganesh.”

Lesson 2

Sacral Chakra

We move to the sacral chakra just below the belly button, and the paired chant Lakshmi Ma, O Lakshmi Ma, Sri Ma Jai Ma, Jai Jai Ma. The sacral chakra is the location of the kundalini fire and the energy of Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity and abundance. This is an excellent manifestation chant when working on a project as it stokes the fire and calls in the support of Lakshmi to witness and support your creations.

Lesson 3

Solar Plexus

We move to the solar plexus chakra between the belly button and the bottom of the rib cage, just at the diaphragm, and the paired chant Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha. This chant is associated with Green Tara, the goddess of liberation, and translates as "I release my addiction to suffering." This is an excellent chant when struggling with discipline, determination, boundaries and refinement.

Lesson 4

Heart Chakra

We move to the heart chakra located at the center of the chest, and the paired chant Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya. I have come to see this chant associated with Quan Yin, the goddess of compassion, as it translates to "Love is Practice." This is an excellent chant when struggling with compassion, forgiveness and understanding.

Lesson 5

Throat Chakra

We move on to the throat chakra located at the center of the throat, and the paired chant Rama Bolo, Rama Bolo, Bolo Bolo Ram. Ram is said to be the Lord of the Universe, and Bolo means to sing. So we are literally singing to the Lord of the Universe, God, Creator, Spirit, whatever name works best for you.

Lesson 6

Third Eye

We move on to the third eye chakra, also known at the ajna, located at the center of the forehead between the brows, and the paired chant Om Gum Ganapataye Namaha. Ganapataye is another name for Ganesh, or Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity said to be the remover of obstacles we chanted to in the Root Chakra Chant. Om is the primordial sound of the universe. Gum is the seed mantra of Ganesh. Namaha is a salutation. So we are bowing, or saluting, to Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, and the seed mantra and sound of the universe.

Crown Chakra

We move on to the crown chakra, located at the top of the head, and the paired chant: Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushthivardhanam Urvaarukamiva Bandhanaan Mrityormuksheeya Maamritaat This chant is associated to Lord Shiva, the great destroyer that makes way for new creations. As we are at the crown and nearly ready to repeat the journey once more.

Lesson 8

Moon Chakra

We move on to the Moon Chakra, the 8th chakra, located at the cowlick of the head, and also said to hover above the head. The Moon Chakra is the Moon of the body, the way the Solar Plexus is the Sun. We have both, and so I've included both here. This chant is also known as the Pavamana Mantra. If you're looking for more challenging chants like the Crown and Moon, you can also find the Gayatri Mantra on the plus version of my library. ASATO MĀ SAT GAMAYA
 TAMASO MĀ JYOTIR GAMAYA
MRITYOR MĀ AMRITAM GAMAYA This is an excellent chant for alchemizing after completion of a creative project, integrating it, and offering it back to spirit for future co-creations.
