Welcome to this meditation on Mother Figures.

We all need good,

Healthy role models.

And there are many women in this world that are wonderful mothers without even knowing it.

These are the mother figures we encounter in our lives.

Sometimes only for a few minutes or even seconds.

We might not even know their name.

The definition of a mother figure is an older woman who is regarded as a source of nurture and support.

I would like you to revisit the women you have encountered in your life who would fit that description.

However,

Don't just think about older women because a mother figure can be many things.

It could be a grandmother,

A great-grandmother,

An aunt,

A mother-in-law,

A teacher you had as a child,

A neighbor or someone else from your community.

It could even be a pet that was there for you when you were growing up or that you have seen Care for Its Young or a fictional character from a book,

TV or a movie.

All these mother figures will have helped shape who you have become.

So make yourself comfortable.

You might be sitting or lying.

Close your eyes and take three deep breaths.

And in.

Hold and out.

And in.

Hold for a second.

And out.

And in.

Hold.

And out.

Notice how with every breath you can feel the tension leaving your body.

Allow yourself to just be in the moment and your body to return to its natural rhythm.

Now,

Imagine yourself in a beautiful place.

It's very peaceful around you.

You can look far into the distance.

You can feel the sun on your skin.

A slight breeze.

The air smells fresh.

With every breath you can feel clear cleansing air reaching your lungs.

Clearing your body.

You walk around exploring.

You can feel the ground under your feet.

What does it feel like?

You look around you.

You see a building.

And you are intrigued.

It's just close enough for you to see.

But it's a theater.

Your curiosity wins you over.

And you decide to walk towards it.

You're full of excitement,

Curiosity and anticipation.

It's a beautiful building.

As you reach the theater,

You see the door is open.

And you decide to step in.

And you decide to step inside.

You look around and everything seems magical.

There are rows of seats.

And they look comfortable and inviting.

You choose a seat near the stage.

Sit down and get comfortable.

You can see a heavy curtain.

And it starts opening.

On this stage,

You see your first mother figure.

Do you recognize her?

Do you know her?

What makes her a loving mother figure?

What have you learned about yourself because of her?

What else has she taught you?

What would you like to say to her?

You can feel her nurturing nature radiating towards you.

Promise her to carry the memory of her inside you forever.

And thank her one last time.

As you see her walk off the stage,

You see your next mother figure appearing.

She is also radiating,

Nurture and love towards you.

Do you remember her?

What makes her a loving mother figure?

When you encountered her,

What have you learned about yourself?

What else has she taught you?

What would you like to say to her?

What does she reply?

How does it make you feel?

Thank her and promise to carry her love inside you forever.

As she walks off the stage,

Again you see another mother figure appear.

What do you notice about her?

She is also radiating unconditional love towards you.

What do you feel towards her?

What makes her a loving mother figure?

What have you learned about yourself because of her?

What else has she taught you?

Share your gratitude with her.

What else would you like to say to her?

How does she reply?

Promise her to carry her memory and love inside you forever.

She also walks off the stage.

Take some time to reflect on your mother figures that you have encountered today.

Think about the gifts they have shared with you.

And feel those gifts becoming a part of you.

Now it's time to make a promise to yourself.

Promise yourself to show the same love to yourself that they have shown you.

It's now time to leave the theater.

You have one last look around this beautiful,

Magical place.

And remember you can always return here.

Maybe there are more mother figures waiting to meet you.

As you leave the theater,

You can feel the light and the sun in your face.

You can feel that beautiful breeze touching your skin.

You decide to explore again.

Here you look around you.

You close your eyes and you just focus on your breathing.

You feel calm and relaxed.

You feel blessed with a sense of love and care.

You feel protected.

When you are ready,

Open your eyes.

And go about your day.

Knowing that whenever you need that love and nurture,

You know how to do that.

You know how to show love to yourself.

You have been given gifts and you will be sharing them with others.
