Kundalini Yoga is often called the Yoga of Awareness.
Unlike other styles of yoga that focus mostly on the physical postures,
Kundalini Yoga weaves together movement,
Breathwork,
Chanting,
And meditation into one complete practice.
Every sequence,
Called a Kriya,
Is created with intention to move energy through the body,
To clear the mind,
And to awaken something deep within you.
Take a deep inhale through the nose.
And as you exhale,
Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.
Feel the rise and fall of your breath beneath your palms.
The word Kundalini comes from Sanskrit.
It describes a dormant energy said to rest at the base of the spine.
Coiled like a serpent waiting to rise.
Bring your hands on your shoulders and begin to twist from the left to the right.
Allowing this energy to awaken the spine.
Moving gently,
Allowing the breath to guide you.
This simple movement is going to release the tension in the spine.
And when you're ready,
Come to stillness.
The movement stimulates the nervous system and invites the body to wake up from the inside out.
The invitation in Kundalini is movement,
Is medicine.
Not just simply exercise.
Bring your hands in prayer pose in front of the heart center.
Bow your head towards your heart.
And silently say to yourself.
Sat Nam.
Which means.
.
.
Truth is my name.
Sat Nam.
