Hello everyone.
I am Mahib and welcome to today's meditation.
We are going to be doing a Transcendental Meditation today involving the sky and the clouds.
Before we begin,
Take a position that's most comfortable for you.
If you're sitting,
Make sure your back is straight.
If it helps in concentrating,
Close your eyes.
And then,
Once you have settled down,
Take a long breath in and breathe out.
Another breath in and out.
Continue to breathe and continue to be aware of the breathing process.
Notice the rhythm of your breathing.
Notice how the body moves upward and downward each time you breathe in and out.
Notice the changes that are happening in your body every time the breath goes in and out.
In case your attention wanders away on to sounds or sensations in different parts of the body or thoughts or emotions or memories.
That's completely fine.
The moment you realize the attention was somewhere else,
Bring it back to your breathing.
Once you are feeling sort of attuned to the breathing,
Let's move the attention towards who is aware of the breathing.
Who is aware of the attention?
Who is noticing right now?
Who is listening right now?
Who is this open space where thoughts come in,
Stay for a while and go away?
Who is this open space where sound comes in and drifts away?
Who is this open space where emotions and memories come in and go away?
Sometimes they stay and occupy so much of the attention,
Take up so much of the energy,
But eventually they leave.
Sometimes they come and take up so much space,
As if these emotions or memories are all that is.
Just like the sky being completely covered by clouds.
Not an inch of the sky behind is visible when the weather is stormy,
When it's raining heavily.
But that open space,
The sky is behind always,
Always,
Without exception,
Without doubt,
Always there.
So who is that open space where clouds can come in and stay,
Have a whole stormy experience,
But they eventually leave?
Who is that open space where the sun comes into warm,
Pleasant,
Emotions come in,
But the open space is just as it is,
Allowing everything to come in,
Allowing the gray clouds,
Allowing the thunder,
Allowing whichever weather,
Whichever emotion comes in,
Allowing these changes to take place without changing itself,
Not judging the emotion or the state or the event or memory to be pleasant or unpleasant,
Not judging them to be good or bad.
Just being an open space,
Being an open sky,
Where everything is welcome,
Anything can come in,
Happiness or sorrow,
Good or bad,
Pleasant or unpleasant.
All extremes are welcome here.
Who is that open sky?
Is there a limit to it?
Is there a beginning of this open space,
Of this open sky?
Is there an end?
Unlike the clouds or the emotions who begin at a time,
Who start coming in and we can point that out and who also fade away at a point or change into something else at a point.
The changes happen within the linear time,
Having a point of beginning and a point of end.
All thoughts,
Emotions,
Memories,
Experiences are limited by time,
Are bound to,
Are subject to change.
Does the same law apply to that open sky?
Is there a beginning point?
Do you know where it began?
Do you know if it will end?
The more you explore,
The more you contemplate,
The more there is.
Keep going,
Keep going deeper and deeper into this open space.
The more you know it,
The more there is to know.
Such is the infinite nature of the open space of this sky.
The one who knows what this open space is,
The one who witnesses all the changes in experiences are one in the same.
If you forget this simple truth,
If the clouds take over again,
If the mind gets identified with thoughts and memories and emotions again,
That's okay.
Remember who you are.
Remember,
The sky is always here.
No matter if it's visible or not,
It's here.
The moment you realize you've forgotten this open space is the moment,
Is the opportunity to remember,
To be that.
And on that note,
Let's take a long breath in and breathe out.
I hope you enjoyed this meditation.
I hope you can take the insights and realizations in the rest of your day.
Please feel free to leave comments or feedback and I will see you the next time.
Have a wonderful rest of your day.
