Hello,
Welcome.
My name is Lou Redmond.
Thank you so much for practicing with me today.
I'm a big fan of conscious music,
Music that has lyrics that have a positive,
Empowering message,
That are spiritual in nature,
That are connecting to something greater,
Whether that be Hindu mantras and devotional chants or Christian rock and worship music.
If you're singing.
.
.
To the divine or to something greater.
I'm all for it.
And there was a song that I heard recently by Casting Crowns called Just Be Held.
Just be held.
And I thought,
Wow,
That message,
That line,
That mantra.
It encapsulates so much.
It encapsulates what our meditation practice is all about and the simplest instruction.
Just be held.
Just be held.
It encapsulates how we can surrender to God or the divine.
That we can let go.
And just be held.
In that grace be held in life's flow And so I thought,
Wow,
This would be a perfect.
.
.
Meditation to explore I love it that it's almost like the opposite of just do it like Nike's mantra of yeah we just got to get into action and this is just just be held just let action take you let life do you and sometimes when we access that our life starts unfolding even more naturally And so let's explore this in a meditation today.
So go ahead and.
.
.
Start to come inwards,
Closing your eyes,
Finding your seat.
Maybe you're on a chair.
Maybe you're on a cushion like me.
Maybe you're standing,
Laying down.
Wherever you are,
Just letting everything.
.
.
Slow down.
And settle.
Feeling your muscles relax.
And starting to feel the support beneath you.
And how much the earth And the physical environment holds you.
And that so often we are spending our energy tightening,
Trying to hold ourselves.
A lot of this is happening subconsciously.
We don't even realize how tight our muscles are.
And so maybe doing just a scan of your body,
Noticing what's tight.
Relaxing your muscles and letting the ground.
Hold you Just.
.
.
Be held.
By the support beneath you.
You might explore with each exhale.
A little bit more release into the earth,
Letting it hold you even more.
Just be held by the earth.
And then noticing any thoughts or emotions that are present,
So a little bit less physical than our body.
The intangible experiences that we're having at all times.
And maybe your mind is clear.
Maybe your emotions aren't activated,
But just notice if.
Any of That is here.
Any thought patterns,
Any emotions.
And in meditation,
We are both allowing ourselves to be held.
But when it comes to emotions and thoughts,
There's this posture that we are actually holding them.
We're allowing them to be held by us and not.
.
.
Attach to them,
Not push them away.
Just noticing them.
And sometimes just by that noticing.
They can soften.
They can relax.
And then we also feel that sense of relaxation.
And so just noticing if any thoughts,
Emotions are here and what is it like to hold them in awareness.
Without judgment.
As you continue to let the ground hold you.
So we're doing all of this at the same time.
And then moving away from thoughts and emotions.
And as we ground here,
Letting yourself now be held by the earth and also be held spiritually.
And so connecting to however you understand the great mystery.
Whether you name it God or something else.
Never that energy that.
.
.
Brought you here that is pumping your heart See if you can let yourself just be held.
Just be held by that energy.
And there might be parts of you that.
.
.
Are fighting or controlling.
We'll explore that.
In a bit.
But really seeing if you can.
.
.
Just be held by the ground.
Just hold.
Maybe any thoughts or emotions.
For let them and you be held by God.
And then let's take a conscious breath in together.
And letting that go.
And there's a line from this song.
And says your world's not falling apart.
It's falling into place.
And so maybe that's resonant for you right now.
Maybe not.
But just know what it speaks to is this sense of when things maybe are going in ways that we wish they wouldn't and we want to control,
We want to change it,
We want to force it into how we think it should be.
That if we can actually just let go.
And trust that although it might look like things are out of place or actually coming apart,
Coming together.
They're falling into place in ways that are beyond what we can understand and are going to be ultimately for our greatest benefit.
And so.
.
.
Connecting here right now.
With somewhere in your life that you are trying to control.
Maybe it's from things not going your way.
Maybe there is something that is falling apart and you're trying to control it or fix it.
Or maybe it's trying to control some future outcome or plan or goal.
And see if you can just notice how that controlling energy shows up in your body.
And see if you can relax into that control notice the tendency to want to fix or change.
And see what happens when you just be held.
Just be held.
And you might notice just that gesture.
Softens the control.
Just be held.
That there is an energy that is holding the cosmos in place,
That is rotating the earth around the sun at the perfect distance.
That it also can handle whatever it is that you are going through,
That it is working for your good.
And all you have to do is just be held.
And to support this,
I'm going to offer some words.
Affirmation you're welcome to Repeat them silently or out loud.
You're welcome to just listen to them.
And sensing how they allow you to go even deeper.
Surrendering even more,
Just be held even more.
Repeating.
I am held.
I am cared for.
I am love.
I am held.
I am cared for.
I am loved.
You're welcome to repeat those or one of those if they resonated.
And you're also welcome to just be held.
Surrendering to the ground,
Surrendering to something greater.
And taking a few moments.
Together to share in this space for letting ourselves just Be held.
And then let's take one final breath together.
And letting that go.
And whenever you're ready,
Opening your eyes,
Coming back into your space.
Maybe a little stretch is always nice.
Ah.
Thank you again for choosing to practice with me.
I really encourage you to take this mantra into your day,
To notice where else it can be used.
Maybe you're in an argument with someone and you're like,
Just be held.
How does that shift the energy?
So go ahead,
Go try it.
I'd love to hear how it works or how you connected to this in the comments.
And I'll say one last thing.
If you like mantras and words that can help you stay connected.
If you want to check out,
I actually have an audio course on here that's called Unshakable Peace,
22 Mantras of Hope.
And there's mantras just like this one that can help orient and give you quick tools to stay calm under stress or just stay connected when you need so.
Thank you again,
And I look forward to practicing with you again very soon.
