Hello,
Welcome.
My name is Lew Redman.
Thanks for practicing with me.
This meditation is going to help you with your marketing.
Now your initial reaction is,
Lew,
I don't have a business.
I don't need help with my marketing.
What do you mean?
This is not for me.
And I'll say that whether you have a business or not doesn't matter because I'm imagining that there are things in your life that you care about.
Projects that you do at work,
Things that you do for your kids,
Maybe organizations that you support or stand for.
And learning marketing,
Learning how we can be a better voice for the things that we care about relates to everyone and anyone that is trying to make change happen in the world.
And in this meditation you're going to be exploring three questions that come from the book,
This is Marketing by Seth Godin.
Seth Godin is a business philosopher who is less about tactics and more about the deeper wisdom behind our work.
And these questions are designed to help you become more clear so that whatever you're working on,
Whatever your project is,
Again whether it's your parenting project or your business offer,
Its intention is to help it be more successful.
And the first question is what we already talked about.
What change are you trying to make?
The second,
What promise are you making?
And the third,
Who are you seeking to change?
We'll be exploring these in a meditation on something that's relevant to you,
A project,
An offer,
Something that you are trying to succeed at.
And I'll name here two to help our success grow.
There's really three areas of success.
Number one is our own self-belief.
And so exploring how deeply committed we are,
How much our belief is rooted in our truth,
Because that's ultimately at the bedrock.
Now there's also the environment around us that's important.
That if we have people who encourage our dreams,
Believe in us,
That's so much more powerful than people that are tearing us down or not understanding.
That can be really hard to bring the things we care about to life when the people around us don't support it.
So it's important to find that community,
Whether in person or online.
And then third is seeking others that are further along.
Teachers,
Mentors,
Coaches.
You might know who they are,
You might have a relationship with them,
Or they might be like Seth and we might just learn things through books.
And so in this meditation,
You're also going to be assessing where you are on those three.
How much self-belief?
How much does your environment support you?
And how much are you learning from others further down the road?
Alright,
So closing your eyes and starting to turn inwards.
Allowing your body to release into the earth and the support beneath you.
And noticing the breath moving in and out of your body.
Letting yourself relax just a little bit more with each exhale.
And we're going to move right into a visualization practice.
And so imagine that you are walking through a hallway and noticing whatever hallway comes to mind.
Feel your feet on the ground,
Maybe there's carpet or wood.
And this floor represents your self-belief that you have for your work,
For your path.
Because ultimately it is you that has to walk this path.
And so just notice what the floor feels like.
What is your self-belief?
Feel like right now?
Maybe it's smooth and solid.
Maybe there's some creaks.
Maybe there's some uncertainty.
Just noticing as you walk what that self-belief is like right now.
And no judgment.
We're just assessing.
And someone even where I say that I want to help people believe,
Like there are for sure periods where my belief gets creaky.
And so welcoming wherever you're at right now.
And then beginning to move and look,
Look at the walls that are around you.
And these walls represent your environment,
The people in your life.
Noticing if they're dream keepers.
Noticing if they're in your corner supporting you.
Noticing if maybe there's some that don't really get it or wish you wouldn't.
And again,
No judgment,
Just assessing.
And feeling what it's like to walk with your belief and this environment down the hall.
And then as you're walking now looking up at the ceiling.
Noticing on the ceiling are the mentors,
The teachers,
The guides that you have.
Could also be your divine mentor,
So to speak.
And just notice how the ceiling looks and how it feels as you walk.
As you walk down this hallway,
Noticing which feels most solid or empowering energy.
Floors,
The walls,
The ceiling,
Which area feels strong,
Which area might need some.
Attention.
And then you notice as you're walking,
There's a box in front of you.
Just pause for a moment.
And this box represents one of your offers,
One of your gifts.
Again,
It's easier to do this if you think of a specific.
It's my meditations on Insight Timer,
My coaching offer.
My course.
My program.
So picking one of these gifts.
As you hold the box,
Asking that question,
What change is this offer trying to make?
And if there's ideas and you have like a little pen,
You can totally journal this too if it comes.
And that change is what's inside the box.
So feel what that energy is like.
Maybe pour that energy into it,
Pouring the change that you're hoping this makes.
And then continue walking now with your box,
With your gift.
And then you come up in the hallways,
A little wrapping paper station.
It's asking you to wrap your box so it looks like a gift.
And that wrapping paper is the promise that you're making.
So what is the promise that this gift is making?
So as you wrap it,
Just connect.
What promise are you making with your offer?
So wrap your gift really nice.
Notice what color it is.
Maybe there's a bow on it.
And then taking this gift down the hallway,
Coming up to the end of the hallway where there's a door.
And pause just in front of the door.
And asking yourself,
Who is this offer seeking to change?
Because the promise only works if you're making it for the right audience.
And on the other side of this door is the people who will gladly receive and need this gift.
So get a sense who is on the other side of that door.
And then when you're ready,
When you feel like,
Yeah,
Here's the change,
Here's my promise,
I see who it's for.
You might have that and it might still be blurry.
But go ahead and open that door.
And step in front of those people that are in that room waiting.
Feel what it's like to stand there.
Feel the energy of what you have.
And then as a way to give your gift,
Both give it to them,
Feel it,
But then maybe also tell them,
Hey,
The change I'm trying to make is,
My promise to you is,
This is for people like you who,
Again,
I know I'm giving a lot for a shorter meditation,
But just give another minute.
The change I'm trying to make is,
The promise to you is,
This is for people like you who,
And then thanking them for this opportunity.
Thanking the room,
Thanking what the hallway showed you about the different areas.
I'm gonna let go of that visualization,
Taking another breath together.
And letting it go.
And coming back when you're ready.
Thank you for exploring this practice.
I encourage you to take some time to journal on what came up.
And maybe you needed extra time to really think and sit with these.
So I totally get that if that's the case.
And yeah,
Letting yourself develop these questions.
And extra credit,
I find that these questions are a great resource to then go forth and write a mission statement for that thing,
That offer,
That project that you are focusing this on.
It might be a mission statement for your general life.
These are great questions too,
As a broader purpose question and statement.
But it's also nice to focus it on,
Yeah,
My promise to these kids that show up to my class is to make them feel more whole and connected and kind.
You know,
Whatever it is for you.
So definitely encouraging you if you'd like to create a little mission statement.
And yeah,
Let me know how these questions landed.
If there's anything that it stirred for you in the comments.
And if you are someone that's still looking for doing work that you care more about,
That you wanna really put your all into,
I have a course on here called Learn to Do Work You Love.
And it might be something fun for you to explore and get some ideas on what your work and what the change that you're here to make can be.
All right,
Thank you so much and we'll look forward to practicing with you soon.
