Hello,

My name is Lou Redman,

And welcome to this premium track that I am offering for Insight Timer on three daily prayers.

And this is inspired by Anne Lamott's book,

Help,

Thanks,

Wow,

Three Essential Prayers.

And I just,

I love exploring these very simple words,

Simple intentions,

Simple prayers that we can think about on a day-to-day basis.

So the first one is thanks.

This is something that we all,

Especially if you spend any time around self-growth or meditation,

There's a lot of gratitude practices.

And for a good reason,

To live life in a state of thanks,

It not only leads to a more peaceful and joyful life,

But it actually allows the good in our life to expand.

What we appreciate,

Appreciates,

And that fullness opens us up so that we can give more and pour into others.

Next is help.

Just a simple help.

And this often can be a little bit more challenging.

I don't know about you,

But I tend to have a lone wolf mentality.

So letting others help me can be difficult.

There's a vulnerability to asking for help.

And there's a humility.

There's a humility in admitting that we don't have all of the answers.

And it's often sometimes in our deepest pain when we surrender.

When we don't have all of the answers.

And it's often sometimes in our deepest pain when we surrender.

When we drop to our knees.

When we reach out to the sky and say,

Help,

Help me.

I can't do it on my own.

And there's many stories of people who didn't believe in a God or anything spiritual to have this kind of moment to completely surrender and say help,

Where they open the door for spirit to move through.

And so continually doing this on a day-to-day basis.

Not having to wait until we have so much pain is something I want to invite you to think about as you move through your day.

How can I open?

How can I let myself be helped?

How can I ask for help?

And then this third prayer is wow.

And this is similar to thanks,

However,

It's a bit more mysterious,

It's a sense of presence that we open up.

We open up to this incredible,

Mysterious world that we live in.

It's almost like a non-dual experience that connects us to something greater.

It's this connection to awe,

To mystery,

To wonder,

To beauty.

And it's so powerful because what it does is it takes us out of our self-directed thoughts.

It opens us up.

It opens us up to a wider perspective.

So putting ourselves in the way of beauty,

Looking at wow.

And it doesn't have to be this wild experience.

If we can just even look at outside in our driveway at this rock formation that makes up the driveway or the street light or the street pole,

We can find wow.

How does this all exist?

Who made this?

How did this come?

So opening to this on a daily basis allows us.

It allows us to live with a lot more surrender,

A lot more reverence,

And in turn,

A lot more fulfillment.

And so we'll be exploring these in our practice.

So go ahead and we'll shift gears into a meditation,

Doing what you need to close your eyes and let your body settle in your chair and your cushion on your bed,

Wherever you're at,

Feeling the support beneath you,

Letting everything just start to relax,

Relaxing the shoulders,

The jaw,

The lower belly,

Inviting the softness,

Bringing some awareness to your breath,

Feeling its rise and fall.

What meditation,

What slowing down does is it attunes us to these prayers.

To be more receptive.

To thanks,

Help,

And wow.

And so I invite you to bring your awareness into your heart,

To the center of your chest.

Thank you for this Lou! This is beautiful.β™ΎοΈπŸ’™πŸ™βœ¨β™ΎοΈ It’s interesting how I heard this tonight as compared to 3 months ago. My prayers of Thanks and Wow, are where I concentrate on these days. I deliberately avoid asking for Help. Until the past several years, my prayers were all about Help me, Forgive me, so much so, that I find I still default there and then consciously shift to Gratitude and Wow. I think this is coming from the consciousness that I am trying to embrace that I am enough, and have everything I need right now. As I am writing this, right now, I am experiencing some feelings of, I don’t know…., but seems to be around the feeling of aloneness, or something relating to wanting help but not sure how to ask..especially when I am trying to develop this idea that I am enough and while right now. Thank you again for sharing this meditation.
