Welcome to the Just Like Me meditation.

This practice can help connect you with others in your life,

Bringing kindness,

Understanding and compassion to those relationships.

Take a moment to get your body comfortable.

Breathing in gently and exhaling a full,

Relaxing breath.

Bring to mind a person in your life,

Whether it is a friend,

A colleague or even a difficult person if you like.

Imagine that person is standing in front of you,

Another human being just like you.

In your mind you can repeat the following phrases while looking at this person.

You have emotions just like me.

You have thoughts just like me.

I know you have experienced physical pain and suffering just like me.

I know you have experienced emotional pain and suffering just like me.

I know you have at times been sad just like me.

I know at times you feel disappointed just like me.

I know at some time you have been angry just like me.

I know sometimes you have been hurt just like me.

I know at times you feel unworthy just like me.

Sometimes you feel inadequate just like me.

I know you worry just like me.

I know sometimes you are frightened just like me.

I know you will die just like me.

I know you long for friendship just like me.

I know you are learning about life just like me.

I know you want to be caring towards others just like me.

I know you try to be kind to others just like me.

I know you want to be content with life just like me.

I know you wish to be free from pain and suffering just like me.

I know you wish to be safe and healthy just like me.

I know you wish to be happy just like me.

I know you wish to be loved just like me.

And now allow for wishes for well-being to arise.

Wishing for this person to have the strength,

Resources and social support that they need to navigate the difficulties in life with ease.

I wish for you to be free from pain and suffering.

I wish for you to be peaceful and happy.

I wish for you to be loved because you are a fellow human being just like me.

Release the image of this person,

Giving them thanks.

Thank you for bringing kindness and understanding to the world,
