Today we are going to practice the infinity breath.
This type of breathing technique strengthens the natural pathways between the right and left hemispheres of the brain.
It helps to bring calm and focus and it's also a great technique to help improve sleep.
The concept of the infinity breath is to seamlessly link your inhale to your exhale so that there's no break in between.
A consistent breathing in and out.
Before you close your eyes,
Start by gazing down at your leg and actually tracing the infinity sign or a horizontal figure eight on your leg.
Just do that now,
Making the loops.
Then as you inhale and exhale,
Follow your finger.
So as you make the left side of the loop,
Inhale,
And cross over to the right.
Exhale,
Inhale,
Make the left side of the loop,
Exhale,
Make the right side of the loop.
Continue to do this on your own with your eyes open for just a moment,
Getting the pattern down right.
In and out.
Now that you've got the hang of it,
Take a deep breath in through your nose and on the exhale close your eyes.
Now visualize that infinity figure eight in your head now and start to breathe in and out seamlessly as you trace it around with your breath.
Your breathing should start to slow down as you inhale around the loop,
Crossing over,
Exhaling around the loop.
Inhale,
Cross over,
Exhale.
Continue to do this on your own now for eight to 10 full breath loops.
If you lose count at any point,
That's okay.
Just start over where you left off and continue to breathe slowly and seamlessly,
Smoothing out any of the hitches in your breath.
Finish your last loop now and take a nice long,
Slow,
Deep breath in and let that go.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Use this infinity breath anytime you need to regain some focus in your day or at night when you need to slow down your thoughts after a busy day.
Thank you for meditating with me.
