Grounding To Connect
by Leanne Marie
A guided grounding meditation, to connect you to your body and the world around you. Grounding helps us to realign and bring our awareness back to the present moment. Finding balance through grounding, balance between your inner and outer experiences and sensations.
Transcript
Find a position that is comfortable for you.
Perhaps sitting in a chair.
Maybe sitting cross-legged on the floor.
Or laying down on the ground.
Wherever you are comfortable and secure.
Just doing what you need to do to adjust your position.
Pillows,
Blanket.
Just wiggle.
Settle down.
Taking a moment to look around the room that you're in.
Noticing the objects,
The colours.
The space that surrounds you.
And when you're ready,
Closing your eyes.
Letting them rest.
Perhaps drawing a deep breath in,
Letting the breath out.
Letting your body know this is a time for you to rest.
And to be in this moment.
Letting your shoulders drop.
Falling away from your ears.
Spine nice and straight.
Resting beside you or in your lap.
Just noticing any tension that is held.
Take a moment to let that go.
Just letting your body soften into the moment.
Just notice your breath.
It's smooth or a little bumpy.
Fast or slow.
There's no need to change or adjust at the moment.
Just observe the breath.
Perhaps there's a sensation or a feeling that comes with that breath.
The breath may start to slow.
Become easy and smooth.
Just let your breath be natural.
And as your body starts to still and quieten.
You find your mind starts to create,
Bring in thoughts,
To-do lists.
Reminding you of what's coming up.
What has occurred.
Just observe these thoughts.
Let them be.
Without any attachment or energy given to those thoughts.
Let them play out.
Let them dissipate.
Flow with the breath out.
Thoughts may start to ease.
You can bring yourself to an anchor.
If the thoughts return or you get lost,
Distracted during the meditation.
Use your breath as an anchor.
Return to the breath and flow in and out.
You may find your body is your anchor.
Noticing where your body is positioned.
Starting to follow down to your feet,
Your legs.
Your back.
Really noticing the position that it is holding.
The support that cradles you and holds you in this moment.
What does it feel like?
The sense of contact that your body has.
The chair,
Cushions.
Your body being held down to the earth.
A gentle pull of gravity.
Where your hands are resting.
And it bends in your knees,
Your elbows.
Pressing your body into the support.
Drawing awareness within your body.
Observing what may be occurring within.
Feelings or sensations.
Perhaps a lingering emotion.
Flowing around.
Where do you notice?
Is there a discomfort?
Bringing compassion to whatever you experience in your body.
Knowledge and acceptance.
That all is right in this moment.
Holding this awareness.
Of your inner experience.
And moving back to the outer experience of your physical body.
The touch of the clothing against your skin.
The fabric.
The way it falls and drapes.
Perhaps tight or loose.
Protection.
The warmth that can be created.
The coolness it can bring to your skin.
Feel the light breeze going past your exposed skin on your arms or your cheeks.
You may sense a micro movement.
That breeze.
You may draw a breath in as the breeze moves past.
Is there a fragrance to the air?
There may be nothing at all.
Drawing your awareness to your sense of sound.
The sounds around you closest.
You may move a little further to the sounds beyond the space you are in.
Beyond the walls.
The building.
Just acknowledging each sound.
Perhaps like a bird.
Just flitting from sound to sound.
Lightly landing with the sound.
The curiosity noticing and then moving to the next sound.
Maybe a sound you stay with a little longer.
Maybe a sound that you hear.
The perfect anchor to return to.
How close are the sounds?
How far away?
Noticing the beginning of a sound and the end.
Draw your sense of sound within your body.
Maybe sounds within.
You can hear the sound of your heart.
The breath flowing through the back of your throat.
Bringing your sense of sight.
With your eyes closed.
You may still sense what you can see from behind your lids.
You can visualize what is around you.
The shades of color or light flowing through your lids.
Just notice.
Coming back to your breath.
Drawing the breath into your body.
Watching the air moving in and out.
The path that it takes.
Moving in through your nostrils.
Down the back of your throat.
Feel the breath moving around your mouth,
Over your tongue.
Creating an awareness of any flavors.
Something you've eaten or drank.
Still lingering in your mouth.
Watching the air moving down the back of your throat into your lungs.
The air is inflated creating movement in your ribs,
Chest,
Abdomen.
Lifting.
The breath turns to leave your body.
Following the same path.
Down the back of your throat,
Your mouth.
Leaving through your nose.
Taking a few moments to watch your breath.
Feeling the tension fall wherever is right.
Maybe at your nose,
Abdomen.
Your focus may move with the breath in and out.
Noticing the temperature of the air.
Feeling it in your body.
Even at your shoulders,
Your back.
Aware of the exchange that occurs in your lungs when the breath enters.
The breath moving from your lungs out to your toes,
Your fingers.
The top of your head.
Leaving before the next breath returns.
Bringing your awareness to your whole body.
Your inner experience.
Occurring at the same moment as your outer experience.
Holding them both,
Balancing this awareness,
Inner and outer.
At the same time,
Your whole body.
Your toes to your head.
Balancing.
Feeling the energy that surrounds you.
Within you.
You notice your body has relaxed.
This may have softened.
And when you're ready,
Letting go.
Letting go of this awareness.
To just be.
In this moment,
You have recreated.
Surrender to the silence.
Quiet.

That was very powerful and yet so serene. Thank you. The ending was very sudden, like a switch, felt like being clicked out of a trance. Not sure if that was intentional. I loved the time I spent in this meditation. You have a lovely voice <3
