If you're living with pain and today it feels heavy,
Not just physically but emotionally,
Let's just pause for a moment.
You do not have to be strong right now,
You do not have to explain what you feel and you do not have to figure anything out.
For the next few minutes we're not trying to fix the pain,
We're just giving your system a moment where it doesn't have to carry the emotional weight so tightly.
And if any part of you is thinking this won't change anything,
That's okay.
This isn't about forcing change,
It's about creating a little more support around what's already here.
Let your body be in the most comfortable position it can find,
Either sitting or lying down.
And if it feels okay,
You can let your eyes close or soften your gaze.
If being in your body feels like too much right now,
You can stay with my voice or with the sounds around you.
You get to choose what feels safest and you can change your mind at any point.
Now,
Without needing a story,
Just notice what the emotional weight feels like today.
Maybe it's the heaviness,
Tightness,
Maybe it's a tired sinking feeling,
Maybe it's numbness,
Irritability.
Just notice what the emotional weight feels like at this moment.
And you don't have to name it perfectly,
Just noticing that something is here.
And if you can't find it in the body,
Even loosely,
Where do you feel it most?
Behind the eyes or a general heaviness through the whole body?
Now I invite you to choose one steady thing to come back to.
It could be the feeling of the surface beneath you,
The weight of your hands resting,
The contact of clothing against your skin.
It could be a sound in the room around you or something you can easily rest your eyes on.
Perhaps it could be your breath.
Just noticing the inhale and the exhale.
This is to give your system a place to land when things feel like too much.
And if it feels supportive,
You might place a hand somewhere comforting.
The chest,
On your belly,
Wherever it feels comforting to you.
And if touch doesn't feel right,
Just skip it completely.
Now,
Gently notice the emotional weight again.
Not going into it,
Just noticing that it's there.
And at the same time,
Notice the steady point you chose and see if both can exist.
The emotion and the place of support.
And if that feels like too much,
Just stay with the steady point.
You don't have to merge them.
You don't have to change other one.
Just letting them both be here.
And sometimes,
When there is even a small place of steadiness,
The rest doesn't have to feel all quite so consuming.
Even if it's only a slight difference.
If the feeling shifts,
You can let it shift.
And if it stays the same,
You can let it stay.
There's nothing to push.
Just being here.
And if it feels comfortable,
You can breathe into that place.
Take a gentle breath in.
And as you exhale,
Breathe out of that place where you sense and feel the emotion.
Just being here and taking a moment with something that's difficult and replacing it and focusing on something that is steady at the same time.
That in itself can begin to change how it feels.
And if it helps,
You might let a simple acknowledgement land,
Not to fix anything,
Just to recognize what's here.
This is hard,
And I'm here.
And letting the words go.
And coming back to the feeling of being here.
And perhaps you can notice what it's like to still be here,
Giving yourself kindness and compassion for what you are experiencing,
For what you carry,
And for what you feel.
The pain may still be present.
The emotional weight may still be present.
And there may also be a little more room around it,
A little more steadiness,
Or simply the sense that it's not taking up all the space.
And if you don't notice a difference,
That's okay.
What matters is this.
You gave yourself a moment of support.
And for now,
You do not need to do anything else.
Just stay here for a few more gentle breaths,
Allowing yourself this time and space.
And as we come to the end of this moment,
You can take that small sense of space with you.
Knowing the emotional weight doesn't have to take up everything all at once.
And you can return to this moment anytime the emotional load feels too much,
Giving your system another moment of support,
Kindness,
And compassion.
