Hello my friend and thank you so much for joining me as I support you in just this gentle short descent into rest.
Let's dive in.
Find a position that allows your body to just feel supported whether already lying down in bed or seated or even lying down on the ground.
Once you find your position letting the weight of you just be held.
Checking the body for any areas of tension as you pull the shoulders down away from your ears.
As you unclench your jaw dropping the tongue from the roof of your mouth and if you haven't yet closing your eyes and as your lids fall softly imagine taking your eyes and looking up to the crown of your head rolling them all the way back.
Not changing anything,
Just starting to notice the pace of your breath.
Noticing the areas of your body that feel alert.
The areas that are holding on and slowly softening to the ground.
Nothing to fix here,
Nothing to force.
Just arriving in to your body.
Now begin to deepen your inhale through the nose slow and steady and exhale softly out the mouth.
Lengthening the exhale just a little more than the inhale as we inhale through the nose for four,
Three,
Two,
One and gently sigh it out for six,
Five,
Four,
One.
Another deep breath in and exhale let it fall all the way back down.
Breathing in let your shoulders soften and exhale breathe out as your belly rests heavy and relax.
Deep breath in slowly and completely and exhale let it fall all the way down to the ground.
Breathing in awareness to the crown of your head.
Exhale softening the forehead and the space between your eyes.
Deep in letting the softening move down and exhale let your shoulders drop to the ground.
Deep in feel the weight of your body being received.
Exhale as the breath guides you further.
Deep in to your belly and your chest rising and exhale just allowing the fall.
Breathing in to your hips,
Your legs and your feet.
Exhaling as you feel your whole body supported.
Keep breathing nice and slow as you begin to imagine that you're lying in this beautiful,
Quiet,
Open space.
It could be a field or a beach or somewhere that your body recognizes you are safe.
The air is calm,
The temperature is just right and nothing is required of you here.
Each exhale feel your body sinking deeper,
Further,
Richer into the ground beneath you.
As if the earth itself is holding you right here.
There's a steady rhythm,
A gentle wave,
A gentle wave as it just washes through you.
And your breath begins to match it naturally.
No effort,
Just flow.
And if thoughts arise,
Let them.
Let them pass by like clouds.
No need to follow them.
And each time you notice returning to your exhale,
Returning to the feeling of being held.
Your nervous system does not need you to do more.
It needs space to settle and you're giving it that right now.
Begin to deepen your breath slightly.
Taking a full inhale in through your nose.
Open your mouth and sigh it out.
Carrying the slower rhythm with you as it follows you into a deep place.
