So let's begin with a gentle out breath.
Let that out breath invite the body to settle down into the floor.
Another out breath to surrender down.
Inviting a sense of connection with your points of contact.
Arriving here.
On the earth.
As you are today.
Following the breath with your mind.
Just let that rhythm flow.
Your body breathing.
As you arrive in this yoga nidra.
Working with your conscious awareness and there's nothing to do except be with the sound of my voice.
You don't even really need to hear the words.
It's okay to fall asleep.
Or to me.
And just come back to stillness.
Whenever you're ready.
All of you is welcome here today.
We're going to be exploring light and dark.
Thinking about the process of the eclipse of the sun and eclipses can make us more aware of the world beyond the earth.
Beyond the day-to-day something bigger.
Marking change.
Marking moments in our lives.
It's also a moment where we suddenly go from light to dark.
Perhaps bringing an appreciation.
Of the abundance of light that we have.
So for now We're settling in.
To the ground in this body with the physical touch.
Imagine that you are also touching the space around you It's touching you.
The air is supported.
Focus on the right side Resting into the space.
Beside the right side of the body.
Receiving its support.
And then the left side allow the space on the left to cozy in.
So you can rest into it.
Space all the way across the front.
Resting into that you could also imagine there's space underneath dropping into the space fully supported permission to let go Breathing.
Into the space I'm going to invite you on a journey around the body.
And the task is simply to sense each place in turn.
Bringing your awareness to each place So choose which side of the body you'd like to start with.
And then be aware of the thumb on that side.
Sensing the thumb.
And then the index finger middle finger ring finger little finger.
Bring your awareness to the palm of the hand.
The wrist,
Elbow shoulder.
Staying on the same side of the body.
Armpits side of the ribcage.
Side of the waist arriving in the hit.
And then down the thigh.
Bringing your awareness to the knee.
Sensing the knee as it is now the cough,
And the shin.
Moving to the ankle.
The heel.
The sole of the foot and then making your way to the big toe on that side.
Sensing the big toe second toe third toe fourth toe fifth toe all the toes the space is between the toes.
The spaces around the toes space around the food.
The foot resting.
Supported by space.
We're switching to the other side of the body.
Finding the thumb.
On the other hand.
Sensing the thumb just as it is now Notice if you feel anything in the thumb.
Then we're moving to the index finger middle finger ring finger.
Little finger.
Palm of the hand.
Rest.
Elbow shoulder.
Staying on this side sensing the armpit side of the ribcage.
Side of the waves.
Arriving gently in the hip.
And then down the leg side,
Knee.
Calf,
Soon.
Sensing the ankle on this side the heel.
Sole of the foot.
Big toe.
Big toe second toe,
Third toe.
Fourth toe fifth toe Become aware of the spaces between the toes.
The space around the toes.
The whole foot resting into space.
Receiving a cozy hug from the space around.
Both feet together both legs Both buttocks.
Find an awareness of the tip of the spine.
The tailbone.
Resting into the sensation of the tailbone and then travel up slowly,
Up the contours of the spine.
Slowly reaching the head and holding the whole length of the spine in your awareness now The whole spine resting into space.
Softening into the earth.
Back of the neck.
Back of the head top of the head center of the forehead.
Center of the forehead.
Center of the chest centre of the throat.
Center of the chest navel lower belly pubic bone,
Groins.
Coins.
Resting and being aware.
Of the whole of the front of the body.
As it is now.
The whole right side the whole left side and the whole back of the body.
Softening down.
Supported by space nothing to do but be here safe and sound.
Being together.
Softly finding the breath again notice the natural rhythm as it is now the breathing body.
Finding its own way.
Taking in nourishment.
Letting go.
Taking in Letting go.
Soft and gentle easy flow Imagine there is a sun in the sky.
Golden and warm offering light the lights landing on your body drinking up this light enjoying its caress the sun sweeping across the face the chest.
The belly.
Wrapping up your arms and your legs.
In sunlight.
Resting into this light.
Opening up.
Softening in sunlight and then Perhaps the moon arrives and begins to slide gently across the face of the sun.
Bringing darkness.
The light starts to fade.
As it gets darker.
The birds quieten.
Everything turns inward.
As if it's time for sleep.
Quietening down as the moon slides across the sun.
And takes away the light.
Leaving you to rest into the dark.
Notice how this is dropping in resting down and then the moon moves again and the light starts to come back reaching different parts of your body bringing the warmth the light,
Maybe it's golden maybe it's something else.
Beginning to open up again to the sun as it returns.
Softening in sunlight.
Opening up.
If you wish you could repeat this flowing with the opposites.
Maybe there's another eclipse and the moon comes back slowly and gently begins to block the light everything darkens quietens,
Your awareness moves inward.
Going in as it gets dark resting here Let the moon slide away again.
Slowly the sun comes back sliver by sliver.
The light reaches your body.
And you open up And then how would it be?
To be in the sun and in the eclipse.
At the same time.
With the light and the dark.
Meeting each other.
Sensing both.
Perhaps the birds are both quiet and singing.
Both together.
Inward and outward.
Warm and cool.
Gold and silver.
Letting this go observing what's present.
As you continue to be here.
Noticing gently where you've been.
Where you are.
How the space was today.
Trusting that it was enough.
And that whatever arose was what was ready.
Trusting this moment this body this breath.
Resting here on the earth.
With the sun and the moon.
This moment in time.
Captured forever.
