Hello and welcome to this summer rain yoga nidra practice.
I am in my tent on the shore of an inland loch in the woods and you can probably hear the summer rain.
I'm surrounded by hills and birdsong and it's warm and dry in here and now that you've arrived there's nothing to do just shelter and rest there's nowhere else to be now to get cozy and settle down and I'm going to guide you in this practice of rest and rejuvenation and invite you to be nourished by this wild location.
So as the rain gets heavier let it be an invitation to enjoy the containment sheltering together in deep rest and moving your attention to your hearing and allowing the sound of the rain to reach you.
Bringing your awareness to the front of your body and imagine the whole of the front of the body is listening wide and receptive receiving the sound and then the whole of the back of the body resting wide softening down resting into the sound and then the right side of the body all the way from the head to the foot the right side of the body and then the left side listening through the left side of the body receiving sound and the whole body now the shape of you resting on the ground dropping into this location the oak trees all around dripping with raindrops glistening the bark on the trees is wet the bluebells are wet the surface of the loch is silvery and dimpled from the raindrops the geese are sheltering and very still the beavers are nowhere to be seen the rain is bringing quietude a sense of being the hills are covered in mist and the air is very still the invitation is to drop into your senses to drop into the ground to drop into your body and bring your attention gently to the breath noticing the body breathing in breath out breath offering your breath care awareness space and the summer rain is warm cleansing soft I invite you to bring your awareness through the body now imagining these qualities washing through you the beginning at the top of the head drop your awareness down inside the head the sense of washing through the brain summer rain dropping down through the brain through the center of the head invitation to let go and receive the cleansing behind the eyes the softening at the back of the nose the back of the throat through the mouth around the jaw summer rain coming through the whole head and down into the neck this flow from the top of the head down and through there's nothing to do except to receive the flow along the left and the right collarbone the left and the right shoulder down the left and the right arm into the inside of the hand and filling each finger all the way to the tip the tip of the right thumb the tip of the left thumb the tip of the right index finger the tip of the left index finger the tip of the right middle finger the tip of the left middle finger tip of the right ring finger the tip of the left ring finger the tip of the right pinky finger and the tip of the left pinky finger a gentle washing cleansing and all there is to do is receive and then coming back to the head and letting this flow drop down again into the neck and this time into the chest space the soft warm moistness this gentle pitter-patter coming through the whole chest now through to the right side and the left side all around the lungs the heart washing through the heart the rain washing through the heart down into the lower chest bringing softness bringing moistness bringing change down towards the diaphragm this flow down the body from the top of the head flowing through the chest down into the upper abdomen the right side the left side down around the navel now the waist the right side the left side the trunk beginning to fill up with the request of the rain to relax to rest to shelter circling now through the belly the pelvis the rain reaching the back and the front the forgotten corners the remote places receiving this pitter-patter receiving this moistness and this softness all the way to the pelvic floor and then spreading wide across the right hip and the left hip down the right leg and the left leg all the way to the foot the right foot and the left foot the feet beginning to fill up now filling up with your awareness all the way to the tip of the right big toe the tip of the left big toe the tip of the right second toe the tip of the left second toe the tip of the right third toe the tip of the left third toe the tip of the right fourth toe the tip of the left fourth toe and tip of the right little toe and the tip of the left little toe filling up with your awareness filling up with the nourishment of the summer rain all the way to the edges all the way to the sides all the way to the back all through the front this rain inviting a dropping into you a dropping into the ground an invitation to be more here in this woodland the scent of bluebells the sound of the cuckoo the rain dropping off the tips of the leaves the grass getting wet the colors brightening the mist low down on the hills and the surface of the lock transformed receiving this rain resting into surrender allowing the in-breath to flow into the out-breath the out-breath to flow into the in-breath I'm resting now being with this body being with your heart receiving the rain is enough
