Hi,
My name's Carly.
We're going to do a short exercise together.
So find a comfortable position for your body to rest for a few minutes.
It might be lying down or it might be sitting up with your legs in crisscross applesauce.
Take a minute to get comfortable.
And then we're going to do a couple of movements to help your body be still.
So take your hands and squeeze them together making fists.
Squeeze your hands really tight together.
Good job.
And now let them go.
And now squeeze your arms into your body really tight like you're giving yourself a hug.
Give yourself a really tight hug.
Squeezing your arms into your body.
Now let it go and relax.
Can you feel the difference?
Good job.
Now that your body is comfortable and relaxed you're going to stay in this position for a few minutes.
Can you close your eyes and open your ears to listen?
Don't squeeze your eyes shut just let them fall comfortably closed.
And now keeping your eyes comfortably closed can you notice your breath?
You don't have to change it or make it louder just listen and feel your breath.
Can you feel it coming in through your nose?
Maybe it tickles the inside of your nose a little bit.
Do you notice your tummy move as you breathe?
You might notice when you breathe in through your nose that your tummy gets bigger.
And you may notice that when you breathe out it goes in.
And if you don't notice this in your tummy you might notice it in your chest which is above your tummy.
You might notice when you inhale your chest gets a little bit bigger and when you exhale it gets smaller.
Great job.
Now keeping your eyes closed can you open your imagination?
In your mind can you see a butterfly?
Not just any butterfly this butterfly is the most beautiful butterfly you've ever seen.
And you're seeing it with your eyes closed in your mind because your imagination is so magical.
You can imagine anything so see this beautiful butterfly and it can be any color you want but notice how it sparkles in the sunlight almost like stars.
In your mind can you see the butterfly flying around you?
This butterfly is pure love and happiness.
With your eyes closed in your mind can you see the butterfly land on your stomach?
It might feel like a gentle kiss on your belly it might tickle your belly a little bit and you feel a gentle warmth going all through your belly.
That's the love and kindness coming from the butterfly.
It might feel warm like the Sun.
Maybe your stomach feels softer now and more relaxed.
It feels really good.
Can you be like the butterfly?
Can you send your stomach some loving kindness?
Keeping your eyes and mouth closed can you say to your stomach in your mind these words thank you stomach for allowing me to eat all the foods that make me grow big and strong and for allowing me to eat all my favorite foods.
Thank you stomach.
Oh there it goes the butterfly has taken off and it's flying in the sky again in circles and up and down and you know this butterfly is having so much fun dancing in the sky.
And now the butterfly takes off and flies away but you can imagine this butterfly anytime you want.
It's really good to be grateful and thank your body for all the amazing things it does.
It feels really good to be kind to ourselves just like it feels really good to be kind to other people.
Being kind is really cool and it's something we can all do every day and it helps make other people feel good as well as us.
