So people often ask,
What is breathwork anyway?
And so this is just to explain it to you a little bit.
We're always breathing.
Day every day.
What makes it breath work is that there is some intention behind the breath or attention placed on the breath.
So there's like a conscious connected breath where you're focusing on a particular breath pattern and that's what makes it breath work.
Now breathwork has the potential to up-regulate,
To down-regulate,
To change your state really quickly,
Really powerfully,
Really effectively,
Completely naturally.
And no one even needs to know you're doing it.
Okay.
So.
.
.
I can show you lots of different breath patterns for different effects.
So you can up-regulate to bring in energy into the body and energise,
Or you can down-regulate and calm and settle the nervous system.
Just through the breath.
Okay,
So let's just practice one for now.
So that's in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
And through the nose.
Now through the mouth.
Making that exhalation slightly longer,
Fuller.
Bigger than the inhalation.
As the effect of calming the nervous system,
Slowing you down.
So as a rule,
If we breathe low and slow,
That's going to have the calming,
Regulating effect that we're probably looking for.
So low and slow,
Low in the belly,
As low as you can access.
And slow.
Making that exhalation just a little bit longer than the inhalation.
And if you want to hold that at the top briefly.
That lets the vagus nerve know that it's time to rest and digest and settle and calm.
It activates the vagus nerve very quickly.
So breath work,
Simple,
Can change your state really quickly,
Really effectively,
Really powerfully,
Completely naturally.
Give it a go.
