Sometimes sleep can be so elusive,
So difficult to achieve,
So far away when we need it.
And yet it is so crucial to our lives,
To our health and well-being.
Sometimes the harder we try,
The more difficult it is to switch off,
To relax and to sleep.
Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed by the chaos of our day.
Our mind does such a wonderful job of reminding us of all the things that need to be done,
All the things that didn't get done,
All the things,
All the things,
All the things.
And so we are now going to quieten that mental chatter,
Release the chaos of that active mind,
Soften and soothe the busyness and release the energy of the day.
It's now time to release all the mental chatter,
All of the noise that exists in our mind,
All of the tension in our body and tap in to the soul rest,
The deep rest that allows us to relax and drift off into a peaceful,
Deep,
Restorative,
Rejuvenating and restful sleep.
And so start by lying on your back with your arms by your sides and take a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Just allowing that exhale to deepen,
To soften,
To lengthen in your own pace,
Depth,
Cadence and intensity.
Just breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.
And just visualize,
Feel or imagine breathing out all the energy from your day.
Just exhale all the energy of your day.
And visualize,
Feel or imagine breathing in clear,
Restful energy.
Inhaling clear,
Clean,
Relaxing and restful energy.
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.
Exhaling anything from the day that needs to be released.
Exhaling any thoughts,
Tensions,
To-do's.
Exhaling,
Exhaling,
Exhaling.
Inhaling that clear,
Clean,
Restful,
Calming,
Soothing,
Serene energy.
Exhaling anything from your day that needs to be released so that you can sleep peacefully.
Because starting now,
This very evening,
This very night,
This very sleep time,
We're going to find a way to find sleep easily.
And to find sleeping easy.
To drift off and drift into a deep,
Restorative,
Rejuvenating and restful slumber.
To fully allow the gift of sleep to be ours.
And just feel that comfort spreading calm throughout your entire body.
And the mantra we're holding in our mind tonight is,
It's time for my soul to rest.
For my soul to rest.
It's time for my soul to rest.
And as you become aware of the comfort spreading calm throughout your entire body,
That ever-growing feeling of calm,
Comfort allows you to fully enjoy the feeling of sleep,
The feeling of relaxation.
Whether you're in the stage of drifting,
Or dreaming,
Or drifting again,
So comfortably,
So calmly,
We all drift through all the stages of sleep,
Drifting down,
Drifting up,
Drifting down again,
Drifting away,
Drifting deeper,
Drifting calm,
Drifting quietly and calm.
And as the days,
Weeks and months go by,
You'll find that sleep comes upon you so easily,
So effortlessly,
So entirely.
And you'll find that when you go to bed at night,
You expect to sleep well,
And you do sleep well.
And you find that your mind can switch off,
Let go of the busyness of the day,
Release the chaos,
Calm the thoughts,
And drift onto things far more pleasant,
Such as dreaming,
Drifting,
Resting your soul.
It's time for my soul to rest.
For my soul to rest.
And if you haven't drifted off yet,
That's okay,
For it will soon catch up with you,
And you will soon allow the sleep to come,
To be,
To nourish,
Restore and rejuvenate you,
Easily,
Effortlessly and completely.
It's time for my soul to rest.
We're going to practice a wonderful,
Calming,
Relaxing breath,
And remember or hold the mantra,
It's time for my soul to rest.
Because it is time for your soul to rest.
And this sigh breath will release your day,
Breathe out the day,
Breathe out any thoughts,
Any remnants,
To deepen your rest and your sleep.
And so this sigh breath,
It's very simple.
In through the nose,
And sigh out through the mouth,
Releasing and letting go.
Or maybe it's an audible sigh,
Or just a breath,
An open mouth,
Release a sigh that makes no sound,
Or a sigh that makes a sound to release even more.
Whatever feels the most releasing,
The most relaxing.
And just release.
And just repeat that sigh breath,
In through the nose and out through the mouth.
Just do that as many times as feels right,
As feels comfortable,
As feels needed.
And just do that until it feels complete.
Notice the peace.
Notice the release.
Notice the stillness.
Time for your soul to rest.
For your soul to rest.
For my soul to rest.
For my soul to rest.
For my soul to rest.
