The Safe/Comfortable Place meditation is a tool some therapists use to help with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, insomnia, and many other issues. It is a very simple imaginal practice of being in a place that feels ideally safe and/or comfortable. It helps calm the nervous system in a moment of stress, and can be used repeatedly to habituate the nervous system to this state of relaxation and calm. Some mindfulness is used here as well to keep the observing mind present and draw the safe/comfortable feelings deeply into the body.
