Goddess Wisdom: Inanna's Descent Into The Underworld

Inanna is an ancient Mesopotamian Goddess of Heaven and Earth. She presided over desire and war, and the fertile energy that allowed the flowers to bear fruit. In her most famous story, she descends into the realm of the Underworld, which is the land of her dark sister Ereshkigal. She meets Death there, but also comes back to life, having changed forever.

This was interesting timing as I came across this. I'm currently having a flare up with my health and it got me naturally upset but this meditation reminded me of the time when I did get sick and and am better now much like this goddess coming back from the dead...and these flare up are like those moments of revisiting this darkness, metaphorically the winters that occur now from her take. It's a delicate reminder of that balance in life, that we will always experience dark times but in turn there is also the light and that we always cycle back to be our shining powerful selves again. Thank you for this.
