Sat Nam,
Welcome to this video.
Now I teach Kundalini Yoga,
So you would think that I have,
Well I do,
I have a toolbox of things to use when I am feeling overwhelmed and life is getting a little bit.
Sticky.
And I'm going to share three of my favorites with you.
And the one that I returned to time and time and time again is probably the most important one.
And that's,
I will share with you today as well.
So we're gonna begin when I just need to come back to the body and it's quite simply long,
Deep breathing.
The power of the breath should never be undermined.
And you can do it in so many ways.
Sometimes I feel I need a bit of comfort with my hand on my heart and a hand on my belly.
Sometimes you might just want a bit of grounding and you can do this anyway.
You don't have to be sat on a mat.
You can be in a queue in the shops.
It's literally just a case of taking some long,
Deep breaths,
Breathing in and out through the nose.
Let us do it together now.
And the second thing.
Is movement.
So it's breath,
Movement and meditation are my three core things that I'll come back to and I'll use one of these when I need to.
If I'm feeling tense in the body,
So overwhelms building up and I'm starting to feel some.
.
.
Tension coming in.
We're going to do some shoulder shrugs.
So,
Hands on knees and we inhale the shoulders up to the ears.
Exhale drop them,
Really let them go.
The shoulders is a place in the body where we do hold a lot of tension and you can feel them creeping up,
Creeping up.
And this especially as well,
These shoulder shrugs will also release a little bit of tension in the neck and the jaw,
Other places where we hold.
Tension and I hold tension in my jaw.
So this is a really good,
Just a minute of this practice.
We'll release that tension and that overwhelm.
And don't think that I save these for times when I'm too busy.
You know,
When things are going really well.
These are for when life is tricky.
These are for when I'm feeling overwhelmed and I just do one of these short little practices.
Okay,
Last one,
Breathing in.
And out.
And my third thing that I'm sharing with you today is Kirtan Kriya.
It is a very powerful meditation.
It is recognised by the Alzheimer's Society.
It is perfect for connecting mind,
Body and spirit.
It uses mantra and it uses a nice,
Easy mudra as well.
And it uses different levels of vocals.
So it really activates different parts of the brain.
It's known to heal trauma.
And the full practice of it can be done for 30 minutes.
We're just going to do five minutes today because this is a short practice,
But five minutes is enough.
So the mantra we're using is SA TA NA MA.
S-A-T-A-N-A-M-A.
And for those of you that I know need to know the meaning,
It's life,
Death,
Life.
No,
It's birth,
Life,
Death,
Rebirth.
So it's the cycle,
The cycle of life.
The mudra is very simple.
With each word,
You press through the fingers.
It's Sa,
Index finger.
Ta,
Middle finger.
Na,
Third finger.
Ma,
Little finger.
Sa,
Ta,
Na,
Ma.
Well then what we're gonna do is we're going to do a minute.
In your normal voice.
Then a minute whispering.
It's the gentle,
The voice of the lover and it will clear the throat.
Then a minute of it silent in your mind.
Then we'll do a minute whispering and then a minute in your normal voice as well,
Okay?
You are visualising the sound current coming in through the crown and going out through your third eye.
So it's like an L shape with the sound current as well.
Sa,
Ta,
Na.
Let us practice.
Don't worry,
There's a lot going on,
A lot to think about,
But experience it.
Satanam Satanam Sata Nama SATANAMA Sata Namah Sat-Chan-Na-Ma SATANAMA SATANAMA Sata Nama SAT-CHA-NA-MA Sata Nama Sata Nama Sup?
SATANAMA Sata Nama SATANAMA Sadhanama.
Satanama!
Satanama SATANAMA SATANAMA SATANAMA Sat Namah Sata Nama Sat-Chan-Na-Ma Take your hands up in the air.
And give them a shake.
And lower.
I love this practice because it's so powerful.
There's so much going on and you get really deep into it.
And it brings you very present.
In yoga,
You don't have to arrive calm.
Just let the yoga meet you right where you're at and experience it from that place.
Like I say,
These are the practices I use when life gets tough for me too.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
As always,
If you've received anything from this video,
Please do leave a comment,
Share it with somebody else who might need it.
There's so many of us out there that need these little quick practices.
So Kundalini Yoga,
Breath,
Movement and meditation.
One of those three will always bring you back to yours.
Equilibrium.
Have a great day.
