Welcome to Imagination Meditation.
My name is Diana.
Today we get to relax as we observe a blissful sunset from a quaint country porch.
Let's get nice and comfortable.
Get up with your shoulders back,
Your chest open,
Allowing your body to fully accept new breath.
You may lean back against your chair,
Or place a cushion under you,
Or against your back if you wish.
You're slightly alert,
But also wonderfully relaxed.
Go ahead and close your eyes.
Let's slow our breathing,
Deep inhale in,
And long exhale out.
Again,
Inhale inward,
And exhale the breath outward.
Any thoughts of tension or stress that you might be holding from the day,
Let's feel free to let them go with the outward breath.
Let's give ourselves permission to place them outside the door to our mind during this time together.
You don't need to let it go forever if you don't want to.
Just give yourself permission to set it aside for the next 10 minutes together.
Let's allow ourselves some calm,
Some joy,
Some peace,
Just for 10 minutes.
I give you permission.
Let's focus on the present moment,
The fact that we breathe in life-giving oxygen,
And we expel the used carbon dioxide.
We breathe in the fresh,
Clean,
Oxygenated air.
We breathe out the warm exhaust from our bodies.
With each breath,
We recognize how vital this action is,
Yet how simple.
We do it every day without even thinking about it.
It's what keeps us here,
Keeps us present.
We are thankful that we constantly receive this gift,
The gift of new breath,
Of fresh air.
Breathe it in,
Indulge in it,
Savor it.
Deep inhale,
Strong exhale.
Strong inhale,
Light,
Long exhale.
Now it's time for our fun little adventure.
Where are we off to today?
Let's close our eyes tight and whisk ourselves up in a cloud and find out.
We emerge on a beautiful,
Quaint front porch attached to a small country house.
The porch consists of a wooden deck,
Perhaps the planks are painted a clean white,
Or maybe a brick red.
Perhaps they're stained a medium cedar color,
Or they could have the unaltered look of a light oak.
A railing wraps around the porch,
Simple vertical posts with horizontal planks connecting them.
A simple woven rug adorns the space in front of the door saying,
Welcome.
The wood shows signs of light aging as if this porch has seen many footsteps come and go.
Perhaps those of a young couple moving into their first home.
The pitter patter of small feet as their owners race up and down the porch steps.
The footfalls of grown children setting off to explore the world and the return of tiny limbs closely followed by the heavier steps of their grandparents.
For the time being,
No one is home except us,
The welcomed visitor.
On the porch,
There's a wicker rocking chair with soft cushions.
You sit down and settle yourself into its pillowy softness.
You start to rock slowly,
Lightly,
Forward and back.
The rocker makes reassuring contact with the wood floor.
You feel the curvature of the feet gently move between adjoining planks nailed together with just a hint of a gap between them.
In front of you lies acres and acres of meadows and hills.
Soft green grass extends as far as your eye can see dotted with tiny flowers.
You see a couple of cottontail rabbits sitting in the grass calmly munching on some clover.
They hop slowly through the meadow,
The sun shining on their brown fur.
Their small white tails bobbing up and down in the grass.
They're relaxed just as we are watching them.
The sun is low in the sky,
Sending golden light over the vista.
Everything shines as if touched with burnished gold.
The sky starts to turn a dusty pink.
Slowly the few clouds begin to absorb a rosy hue.
Lines of light coral pinky red start to streak the sky.
The sun itself is the color of goldenrod,
The gold of a sunflower.
A bright coral reddens the entire sky.
It mixes with a vibrant orangey yellow.
As the sun sets even lower,
It becomes a crimson red sphere.
You watch it touch the horizon,
And before your eyes it melts,
Becoming a half circle and just a red arc,
And finally,
Nothing.
The red of the clouds lightens to a dusky lavender mixed with pale blue and pink,
Till slowly the color dissipates and the sky is left a muted purple.
You see the first star twinkle in the sky.
You sit back in your rocking chair,
Gazing at the magnificence around you.
Know that the beauty of nature is always there,
Ready to be appreciated and noticed.
And now,
We'll leave this beautiful refuge,
But only for right now.
You can always come back to this quaint little country porch and savor some moments in nature.
But now,
Let's come back to the room.
Keeping our eyes closed,
Let's notice the way our chair feels,
The floor under our feet.
Rub your hands against your thighs,
Stretch your arms out in front of you,
Stretch your feet and legs,
And settle them back on the floor.
Take a deep inhale in,
And exhale out.
Another deep breath in,
And exhale out.
And whenever you're ready,
You may open your eyes.
I hope you enjoyed this meditation session.
Know that you can always come back whenever you need a small break from the world.
I wish you happiness and fulfillment as you enjoy the rest of your day.
See you next time!
