This practice is for the days that feel like a lot.
The days where you kept going.
Answered messages.
Handled what needed handling.
But inside.
You felt tired,
In a deeper kind of way.
May be emotionally tired.
Maybe mentally overloaded.
Maybe disappointed,
Lonely,
Overwhelmed.
Or simply worn down by life.
And sometimes difficult days do not fully catch up with us until night time.
When the distractions fade.
When the house gets quieter.
When there is finally space to feel what the day actually held.
So before sleep tonight.
I want to remind you of something.
You do not need to have a perfect day to deserve rest.
Take a slow breath in.
And exhale gently.
Again inhale.
And exhale.
Let your body settle wherever you are.
You don't need to hold yourself together so tightly right now.
Day is done.
Nothing more needs to be solved in this moment.
Notice the support underneath you.
The bed beneath your body.
Pillow beneath your head.
The feeling of being held by something for a little while.
And if today brought sadness,
Disappointment.
Frustration or emotional exhaustion.
You don't need to push those feelings away before sleep.
You are allowed to be human tonight.
Allowed to feel affected.
Allowed to feel tired?
Allowed to admit that some days take more out of you than others.
Take another slow breath in.
And let your jaw loosen slightly.
That your shoulders drop.
At your hands and clench.
Your nervous system does not need harshness tonight.
It does not need pressure to bounce back immediately.
Sometimes what helps most is simply experiencing a moment where nothing else is being demanded from you.
No performing.
No caretaking.
No pretending you're completely okay.
Just breathing.
Just resting.
Just existing for a few moments without needing to carry everything so actively.
And if your mind starts replaying the day,
Gently remind yourself.
The day is over now.
I don't need to keep reliving it tonight.
There will be another chance tomorrow.
You survived today.
Even if it was messy.
Even if you cried.
Even if you felt discouraged.
Even if you did not handle everything perfectly.
You are still here.
And that matters more than your productivity,
Your composure.
Or how well you held it all together.
Take another slow breath in.
And exhale slowly.
Now imagine the body beginning to understand that it no longer needs to stay so alert.
The pressure of the day slowly fading into the background.
Not disappearing instantly,
But taking up less space as your body moves closer to rest.
You don't need all the answers tonight.
You don't need certainty tonight.
You don't need to figure out your whole life tonight.
For now.
.
.
Sleep is enough.
Rest is enough.
This moment.
Is enough.
Take one final slow breath in.
And a long slow breath out.
Let the bed hold you.
That the night carry some of what feels difficult.
And let yourself move towards sleep without needing to earn it first.
If you'd like more support tonight you can continue with another sleep practice like bedtime for an overthinking mind or when your nervous system won't switch off.
Good night.
