When your mind won't slow down,
The instinct is to try and stop it.
That really works.
If anything,
It tends to speed things up.
Because now you're thinking about thinking.
Maybe instead,
Taking a different approach,
Just notice what it's doing.
Running through things,
Looping,
Trying to solve,
Revisiting conversations from the day.
This is what the mind does under pressure.
It tries to close things.
And when it can't,
It keeps going.
So rather than getting caught inside it,
See if you can step slightly back.
Almost like you're observing it.
Rather than being pulled along by it.
And then ask yourself,
Is there actually something I need to act on right now?
If there is,
You can note it.
Perhaps even write it down later.
But if there isn't,
Then this is just momentum.
Thinking,
Continuing,
Because it has not had a clear end point.
And once you recognise that,
Something shifts.
Because not every thought needs your attention.
Some of them can actually pass.
And as that happens,
Even slightly,
You might begin to notice small gaps appearing.
Moments where the thinking softens.
You don't need to create those gaps.
Just allow them when they appear.
And over time,
The intensity often reduces on its own.
Not because you forced it,
But because you stopped feeding it.
