This is a gentle and simple guided breathing exercise to provide you with calm and good feelings. This is an exercise that is good for beginning your journey into mindfulness. This is for those moments when you are between things. Take time to just sit and have 3 minutes, after all most people dont even take a break any more.

Breathing exercise.

So just sitting in a comfortable position,

Feet on the floor.

Slowly beginning to focus on how you are breathing right now.

No need to change the way you breathe,

Just noticing how it is.

When distracting thoughts,

Sensations or emotions come,

Simply returning and holding a gentle focus on the breathing.

Following the breathing all the way in and all the way out.

Maybe you can deepen the breath slightly,

Drawing it down into the body.

And then begin to regulate and equalize the in and the out breath,

Perhaps counting three or four on each breath.

Or just telling yourself,

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Now just returning to your normal breathing.

Sitting,

Nothing to do right now.

When you get distracted,

Just notice that and return to the breath.
