This is a gentle breathing practice for children inspired by my friend's 4.5 year old daughter Chloe. It aims to encourage loving-kindness for people, animals and world, as well as for oneself. The background music is soft harp melody. I recommend to parents to listen to it together with their children at first to help with the instructions if necessary. Hope your lovely children will enjoy it. Namaste

Hello dear friend and welcome!

I'm so so happy to have you here with me.

Today we are going to learn to breathe smiling hearts and send love to everyone.

Sounds good?

So let's do it!

First,

Sit comfortably on the floor,

Cross-legged,

Or on the chair with feet on the ground.

Make your back straight,

Like somebody's pulling you up gently.

Rest your hands in your lap.

Close your eyes.

Take now one slow deep breath.

Fill your tummy with air and very very slowly breathe out,

Feeling the air coming out of your nose.

Great!

Put one hand now on your heart.

Feel the heartbeat under your fingers.

And now when you breathe in,

Feel how your chest and hand move a little bit up.

And when you breathe out,

They slowly fall back.

Keep breathing into your heart for a few moments.

Now pay attention to your heart.

Can you feel love in your heart?

It's that feeling you get when you hug people that you love,

When you eat your favorite food,

When you play with your friends,

When you dance,

When you explore.

When you feel love,

Your heart is smiling.

Can you feel that smile?

And as you breathe,

Your heart makes more and more of these beautiful smiling hearts.

So let's send now those smiling hearts of love to everyone around.

When you breathe in,

Imagine that a beautiful smiling heart is growing bigger and bigger and getting shinier and shinier.

It cannot wait to go out and share love with everyone.

When you breathe out,

Stretch out the hand that's been on your heart and from your palm,

Send the heart flying into the world.

Let's send one heart now to your family,

Your mom,

Your dad,

Grandparents,

Brothers,

Sisters,

Anyone you can think of.

So breathe in,

Hand on the heart,

Smiling heart getting ready.

Breathe out,

Hand stretched,

Heart goes to all the people you're thinking about.

Wonderful.

Let's send now another heart to your friends,

To your teachers,

To your cousins in the same way.

Breathe in,

Hand on your heart,

Smiling heart getting ready.

And breathe out with a palm open,

Send it.

And another one to all the people in the world.

Breathe in,

Heart getting ready,

Open your hand,

Breathe out and send it.

And let's send one more to all the animals in the world.

Breathe in,

Hand on the heart,

Smiling heart getting ready.

Breathe out,

Palm open,

Send it.

Great.

Let's send one more heart to all the trees and flowers,

Mountains,

Rivers,

Lakes,

Sea.

Breathe in,

Hand on the heart,

Smiling heart getting ready,

Open your palm and let it fly.

Breathe out.

Excellent.

And feel now how all the love and all the hearts you sent out return to you as million little happy hearts.

They fly back to you,

Into your heart and make you smile and make you feel so much love.

That love stays always with you and you can feel it whenever you put a hand on your heart.

Now slowly,

Let's finish this practice.

You can wiggle your fingers,

Your toes,

Stretch out a bit and we are done.

Great job today.

Thank you and see you again.

Bye bye.

This is so good. Our first graders loved it. It is awesome and incredible. Thank you for this meditation. One girl wanted us to send hearts to people who have passed away. Thanks for the love.
