Hello and welcome to another meditation.
My name is Jelena.
Our topic today is resistance.
To be able to move into a place of real and full acceptance we need to first look at our own resistance.
However,
It is usually not so easy to notice it.
Resistance is elusive and stubborn very often.
And usually we try to rush ourselves into acceptance.
We try to work with our difficult feelings,
Relationships,
Life situations and after thinking we just did it we find out soon that we are right back where we started.
This is why working with resistance is so important.
Resistance is one of those things that keep pulling us back and it makes it hard for us to move to the next level.
But also resistance is the thing that shows us some hidden patterns,
Lessons to be learned.
It reveals to us some hidden attitudes and beliefs that are actually the real reason we are struggling to accept something and move on.
Resistance is the separation between us and our experience or feelings we are working with.
We need to discover it,
Acknowledge it,
Look at it and slowly allow it to dissolve so that we can become more whole.
So for today's meditation find a comfortable position.
Bring your attention to the present moment.
Let go of the future,
The past.
Let go of thoughts,
Feelings.
For a few moments there sink into your deep inner calm.
Let go of the past.
And now let's start working with our resistance.
Connect your attention to your body.
Think about some repetitive problems,
Discomfort,
Illnesses,
Weight,
Knots,
Soreness,
Tightness.
Where is your body contracting?
Where is your body holding onto something and refuses to release?
Release it.
Allow that resistance to show up.
Observe whatever resistance shows you and slowly let it dissolve,
Allow it to go away.
Let go of the past.
Let go of the past.
We can also find resistance in our reactiveness to certain people,
Situations.
What are those usual triggers that you encounter?
Who pushes your button?
What are you resisting in these situations?
Allow things to show up in your mind.
Don't push them.
Don't escape from them.
Notice your attempts to escape.
That's where resistance usually is.
And observe.
No judgment,
No storytelling.
If you notice you're getting defensive,
Just acknowledge it and let it go.
If you notice an emotion arising,
Also notice it and let it go.
Allow this resistance to surface,
Reveal itself and then allow it to go.
Let go.
We also often resist dealing with some difficult emotions.
You can usually recognize them as sentences we tell ourselves like,
I cannot allow myself to feel that or I will deal with that later or it is not appropriate to feel this way.
Usually these are complex emotions of anger,
Guilt,
Shame,
Sadness,
Depression or extreme panic and anxiety.
We resist them as well.
Look for a most common emotion you're resisting.
Do not go into reasons why,
Do not explain yourself.
Just look into that resistance.
If the emotion comes up again,
Allow it,
Notice it.
Do not attach to it.
Let that emotional energy flow through you.
Catch those moments of contractions to notice how you're resisting and let the resistance slowly dissolve.
Remember1 Another way we are challenged to deal with resistance is when we have recurrent things happening to us,
When we are caught in the same pattern or in the same loop,
When we meet a similar type of partner,
Or we have the same kind of boss in different jobs,
Or we have a recurrent theme of our partners abandoning us,
For example,
Or our parents annoy us in the same way again and again.
We resist certain things and need to let it go in these relationships,
In these loops.
What is it for you?
What are you repeating again and again?
What is hiding in that repetition?
What is something you're avoiding?
Let it all come up.
Meet that resistance with an open heart.
Just observe it and let it dissolve.
Be it time or focus,
And start to be nonstop in your thoughts.
Only we can see the stress of the liberated.
Notice how when you face resistance openly and lovingly how it softens.
Notice how fleeting it becomes.
Notice how it gives you more space.
Notice waves of peace and calmness within that resistance as it dissolves.
Rest in the peace.
Rest in the new open space.
And before you finish this meditation,
Find a couple of minutes to reflect.
What did you discover in this meditation today?
What are some things that you need to do?
Has any resistance become smaller,
Softer?
Did you find those gaps filled with peace and space?
Bring now your attention back to the space where you are,
To your body.
Wiggle your toes,
Your fingers and slowly when you're ready you may open your eyes.
Namaste.
