Hello beautiful souls,
This is June B and welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June B.
Join me as I look out on this misty day and what lies ahead for us.
So let's get into your favorite sleeping position,
Make sure you're comfortable,
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time breathe in,
Breathe out.
It's been a good night's sleep and now I am looking out my window and it's really misty.
It is the fall here in the UK and the days and the evenings are turning darker earlier and somewhat crisp.
The kind of days where it's a little nippy,
Although it's not quite cold enough to wear gloves or a scarf yet.
You can feel it whip around the back of your neck sometimes,
On your toes at night if the covers come off and in the mornings when you get out of bed.
That feeling where you are so comfortable then when you pull back the covers to get out of bed,
You wish you had another hour to enjoy the nourishing cocoon you were in for those previous hours.
In the early mornings there is a slight white colour to your breath,
You know what I mean,
When it starts to turn a little white on your exhale.
When I was younger my friends and I at school would be in the playground at break and pretend to be smoking and blowing out this gentle white breath that was so similar to the after blow of a smoker's exhale.
Well when that happens you know my favourite time of the year,
Christmas is fast approaching.
So this morning as I look out the window I wonder what it was like to be in the living room with my friends and I at school.
So this morning as I look out the window I wonder what it would be like to be in the mist and what things would be there to greet me.
Let's imagine the scene together now.
So we will step outside all wrapped up and feeling comfortable.
The surroundings are very green,
Lush and the mist is almost tangible.
If I reach out my hand I can almost touch it.
It is like a very light and wispy form of sorts and it makes the scene look magical almost.
Something you would see on a picture to advertise a day to stay inside maybe.
Extremely beautiful all the same.
As I walk deeper into the greenery I can sense I am among many tiny animals that are keeping their distance and waiting for me to come out.
I am among many tiny animals that are keeping their distance and watching me out of the corner of their eyes.
I can hear some small birds up in the trees and can't see them because they are hidden by the mist.
I can sense rabbits or maybe foxes around,
Squirrels in the trees and hedgehogs abound.
I am now the center of attention.
It is like I am on stage front and center and my audience is all watching this play of mine unfold before their very eyes.
So as we move on through this greenery let's identify what mist really is.
You know I love my facts and according to Wikipedia mist is caused by small droplets of water suspended in the cold air,
Usually by condensation.
And that is what we are in the midst of right now.
Mist limits your visibility and if I'm being honest opens up so many amazing surprises in front of me.
It is also like a physical manifestation.
Mist is wet to the touch and when you hold your hand out you can almost touch it and then when you look at your hand it is damp.
Those are the droplets of water in the air depositing themselves on your fingers.
Because I can only see about a hand's length in front of me my other senses have become much more acute at this time.
You know they say stop one of your senses and the others are heightened.
Mist is wet to the touch and when you hold your hand out you can almost touch it and then when you look at your hand it is damp.
Because I can only see about a hand's length in front of me my other senses have become much more acute at this time.
So stop one of your senses and the others are heightened.
Well that is the case right now.
I can hear the slightest movements happening in front of me although I can't see them.
The water in the air forms an unusually green smell.
Does that even make sense?
You can't smell a color right?
Although I have always said some things do smell green.
I suppose I can liken it to the smell of freshly cut grass or the smell you get in a field just after a short and sharp downpour.
So that is my idea of smelling green right?
So I can also smell the slight smell of water.
Of course water is green.
Of course water itself has no smell although there is a kind of mix of water and earth that gives it that kind of rain smell.
There is also a smell of wet earth from the night before probably.
That earthy and deep smell you get when you're amongst wet upturned earth.
Like if someone or something has been digging.
I always identify with that smell as I am a keen gardener and I know when I smell that earth smell I'm usually knee deep in planting something or the other.
While I'm taking to the feelings and smells of this misty morning I can hear a rough smell I can hear a rustle in the distance and out pops a little fox.
He seems not to know what to do as our eyes lock.
Him looking at me,
Me looking at him.
Then he slowly walks sideways not taking his eyes off me for a minute and before you know it poof he's gone.
While I glimpse him for a moment you could see the water drops on his fur glistening in the light and his nose was a deep brown colour almost black.
The most unusual thing about him was his eyes bright and piercing for sure.
I'm sure he was a lot more afraid of me than I was of him and so he is gone back into the mist.
As I look to my left I see a little bunny hopping around and then she stops to look at me with her nose twitching at 90 miles an hour.
It is so cute.
I'm sure she's just looking for some food.
Then she gets bored of looking around and hops away.
I can hear crickets in the background and the birds are still singing.
In the distance I can see the rolling hills for miles and miles.
Popping up above the mist in this landscape is so beautiful and serene.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go and fully surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away have yourself a great night's sleep.
I'm looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.

Another effective sleep story! My mind really wanted to stay awake to listen, so I turned volume down just enough to give my body the upper hand and let sleep takeover while the story played in the background. JuneB's sleep stories are my sleep time remedy; their like the equivalent to adult lullabies! 😇
