As you settle in tonight,
Give yourself full permission to let go,
To release what's behind you and come back home to the deep rest that awaits.
On this evening's journey to a tranquil autumn cabin,
Surrounded by amber golden leaves and grounding evergreens,
You'll fall asleep quickly and deeply.
There you'll experience total surrender and deep stillness,
A place to rest and reset for the days ahead.
My name is Jason Stevenson and I thank you wholeheartedly for your practice.
You're welcome here just as you are,
This is your time to restore yourself.
As we get started,
Take a moment to settle in,
Let your head melt into the support of a pillow and your body to be covered with any blankets that you desire,
Then take a long slow breath in,
Releasing with a slow and steady sigh,
And another slow nourishing breath in and a gentle sigh of surrender.
Continue to breathe naturally,
With every exhale invite your body to soften and your mind to gently surrender,
Just like autumn leaves falling effortlessly down to earth,
Filling with crisp restorative air as you breathe in,
And letting go like autumn leaves as you breathe out.
And as your mind relaxes,
Imagine an autumn forest unfolding in your mind's eye,
Your feet firmly rooted to terracotta earth,
Which is covered by a blanket of fallen leaves,
Pine,
Spruce,
Birch and maples line the pathway on both sides,
Their canopies reach a violet sky overhead,
And their roots dig deep into the soil,
You feel safe,
Grounded and unconditionally held in these woods.
In a moment,
You will begin a journey along this pathway,
Relaxing in both breath and body as you go,
Follow my voice as I guide you,
Taking the journey moment by moment,
There's nowhere you need to be but right where you are.
So,
Begin a slow,
Mindful walk along the earth now,
Down the grounding,
Fertile path beneath your feet,
And as you walk,
Notice that floating lanterns illuminate the way,
Warm amber light beams through their glass enclosures,
And feel this light grace the crown of your head,
Sending a slow moving current of relaxation down your body,
And it melts any tension in your forehead,
Softens any tightness in your cheeks,
And relaxes any contraction in your jaw,
Your whole head and your entire face are relaxing deeply,
Bathed in the soft luminosity of the lanterns,
And take a few mindful exhales to deepen the surrender that's moving through your headspace,
Both physically and mentally,
You continue to walk,
Noticing the earthy fragrance of fallen leaves beneath your feet,
Rich and grounding,
There's also a gentle sharpness in the air,
The distinctive scent of pine,
And the sweetness of damp wood and moss,
Welcome this grounding forest fragrance deep into your mind and body as you inhale,
And softening with ease and grace as you exhale,
Now notice the way the amber light of the lanterns gently cloaks your shoulders,
Your shoulders release any baggage they've been holding,
There's nothing you need to carry here,
And as your shoulders relax,
A natural wave of surrender flows down your arms,
Through upper arms and elbows,
Your forearms and wrists,
Pulling gently in your hands,
Fingers releasing any grip they've been holding,
And take a slow deep breath all the way down your arms,
All tension melting away,
With ease and openness,
You continue along the trail,
Spine long,
Body relaxing,
And you welcome the warm caramel light as it reaches your heart and chest,
It dissolves worry and tension,
Creating more space to breathe fully,
Creating more space to soften and surrender,
And if your heart is holding any difficult emotions at present,
Imagine those two being infused with soft nourishing light,
Imagine your entire chest and your upper back too,
Filling with this rich warm luminosity,
Let any tension,
Mental,
Physical or emotional,
Continue melting away as you exhale,
Now follow the light as it flows down your spine,
Offering ease and nourishment to your entire nervous system,
And imagine your entire spinal cord surrounded by a golden glowing aura,
Nourishing both the physical and mental layers of your nervous system,
And soon,
The light arrives in your belly,
Soothing every cell,
Muscle and organ that lives within and around this space,
Your pelvic bowl relaxes and so do your hips,
And you continue to soften as you move forward along the path with growing peace and presence,
And inch by inch,
The lantern light flows down your legs,
Through your upper legs and knees,
Through your lower legs and ankles,
And landing gently on your feet and toes,
Infusing them too with a deep surrender,
All tension and any anxious striving melts away from your legs completely,
And you walk onwards with trust and ease,
As you walk,
You feel your whole body surrounded and infused by this restorative lantern light,
Warm and steady,
And as your physical body softens in its presence,
So does your mind,
And in fact,
This lantern light now melts away every story you've been holding about the day behind you,
Thought by thought,
It dissolves each fear,
Each worry,
And every rumination,
Every moment and every narrative that does not serve you melts away,
Because again,
There is nothing,
Absolutely nothing you need to carry forward if it does not serve you,
As your mind quiets,
Your attention anchors in your breath,
Feeling the forest's deep nourishment reach every layer of your being,
Mind,
Body,
Heart and spirit,
And every layer is gently recalibrating,
Gently restoring,
Gently yet deeply relaxing,
Now your attention broadens to observe the beauty of the forest around you,
And silver birch trees hold bright golden leaves,
And maples glisten with amber canopies,
Many leaves are still attached to their branches,
But others are drifting slowly to the ground in gentle spirals,
And others have already found their resting place on the earth,
The dark,
Grounding presence of spruce and pine offer a deep green contrast to the landscape,
And a crisp,
Striking scent of resin in the air,
As you walk onwards,
You can hear the sound of the leaves stirring,
Rustled by a gentle breeze,
Birds sing as well,
In harmony with these tall,
Ancient trees,
And your crown reaches for the violet sky overhead,
Dusk is slowly approaching,
Your heart widens to embrace the journey before you,
And to savour this tranquil forest you've stumbled into,
And each inhale nourishes your mind and body with fresh oxygen and with the forest's fragrance,
And each exhale frees you,
A reminder to let go,
To make way for deep rest,
And as you continue along the pathway,
Something enchanted appears,
There,
Just a short distance ahead,
Is a picture perfect cedar cabin,
With a welcoming wraparound deck,
Warm golden light shines through the windows,
An echo of the glowing fire within,
At the edge of the deck is a tidy pile of raked leaves,
And beside it a stack of firewood,
It holds the promise of a warm,
Supported and cosy night ahead,
And as you draw nearer,
You notice tiny fireflies darting through the cool,
Darkening air,
The golden light is fleeting like sparks,
Stirring awe and wonder in the atmosphere,
A stone chimney sits on the roof,
And a gentle spiral of smoke carries the scent of burning firewood,
It calms your mind and soothes your spirit,
Letting you know that you are taken care of here,
This cosy cabin is all your own,
So you can customize its appearance in any way that brings you peace and comfort,
But when you are ready,
You make your way up the front steps to the porch,
And then to the front door,
Notice the sound of dried leaves crunching beneath your feet,
The forest's natural blanket,
And just before you make your way inside,
You pause for a moment to take in the view,
The forest stretches outward in all directions,
A protective cocoon around you,
Rich maples and silver birch trees sway gently,
And fireflies flicker like tiny lanterns against the deep lavender light,
You admire the cabin itself,
Seeing it for what it is,
A sacred space of rest and renewal,
It's a place where you are safe,
Grounded,
And unconditionally held,
So as you take a slow cleansing breath,
You reach for the door handle,
Feeling its smooth brass surface beneath your fingers,
Gently,
You pull the door open,
And a gentle warmth washes over you,
It ushers you inside,
As you enter the hallway that leads to the front room,
You take off your shoes and your jacket,
Soft cotton slippers and a robe have been left out for you,
You tuck your feet inside,
And wrap your body in the gentle fabric,
Slow step by slow step,
You follow the carpet that runs along the hall,
And it's not long before it leads you into the main sitting room,
With large windows that overlook the forest,
Take a moment to pause here,
Sensing the walls that surround and protect you,
Smooth cedar logs rise on all sides,
Their natural grain glowing in golden copper,
Your feet anchor into smooth oak flooring,
And your crown reaches for the cedar ceiling,
Check in with your body for a couple of breaths,
Reminding yourself that you are safe and held here,
And allow any recurrent tension to soften towards the floor,
Now on one side of the room is the crackling fireplace,
The source of the caramel light that fills the space,
You are naturally drawn to it,
Moving in its direction to take a seat in the armchair before it,
Allow your body to deepen its surrender here,
Any residual stress or discomfort melting away,
Your feet and legs relax,
Your back and belly relax,
Your chest,
Arms and hands relax,
And so does your entire face and head space,
Your body and mind melt into the sweetness of this warm and nourishing moment by the fire,
The flames dance as luminous ribbons of gold and amber light,
Spiraling in playful patterns,
They rise and curl and settle again,
Each movement hypnotic,
Grounding your awareness in the present moment,
The wood crackles,
Sending tiny sparks upward before they disappear,
And you notice the warmth that radiates outwards,
Filling every corner of your being with ease and well-being,
The fire's glow is vibrantly alive,
Yet deeply soothing and calming,
And take a few moments to simply admire this glowing fireplace,
Feeling its warmth against your skin,
Let it be a steady anchor for your mind,
Fire holds the power of transformation,
So as you watch these flickering flames,
Allow them to carry away any remaining stress,
Tension or worry that does not serve you,
Stories about the day behind you,
Assumptions about the days ahead,
Or any physical tension in your body,
As you surrender what you don't need to hold in this moment,
Your energy field transforms,
Peace and calm settle over you,
Bringing deep,
Deep rest within reach,
And as you let go of all your worries and anxieties,
And when you have surrendered any last worry or tension,
Let your gaze shift to the glass window panes,
Notice that just beyond them,
The sky has transformed as well,
The violet light has shifted to dark amethyst,
And hundreds of glistening gemstone stars illuminate the night,
A half moon shines brightly as well,
Dusting the treetops with silver light,
And you can feel yourself growing increasingly tired,
Ready for the deep rest that comes through sleep,
So when you are ready,
You slowly and gently rise to your feet,
And you take one last moment to absorb the peace and beauty of the cabin's living room,
Before whispering a soft goodnight to yourself,
When you are ready,
You turn away from the fire and move back down the hallway,
And there you find a wooden staircase or ramp rising up into the cabin's loft,
Slowly and mindfully,
You make your way up to the loft now,
With each step,
You can feel a complete and unconditional release of the day behind you,
You are leaving it behind now,
And as you enter the A-frame loft,
You are deeply,
Wholeheartedly delighted by what you find,
This calm and cosy space is bathed in the gentle glow of fairy lights strung along the rafters,
And they twinkle like the stars themselves,
Filling the room with wonder and magic,
The entire A-frame wall is made of glass,
A window reaching from floor to ceiling,
And it offers an uninterrupted view of not just the forest outside,
But also a still moonlit lake beyond it,
Because now that you have risen from the main floor,
You have a higher perspective of what surrounds the cabin,
And that includes a tranquil,
Natural body of water,
Its presence is deeply comforting,
Bringing peace and joy to your heart and your spirit,
Beneath the moon-kissed window rests a plush bed,
And layered with soft blankets and cushions in warm autumnal hues,
You move towards it,
Feeling its gentle pull of comfort and calm,
Envision yourself settling in now,
And as you do,
Soften your whole body with a slow,
Deep sigh,
The cushions and blankets mold perfectly to your body,
Supporting and cradling you,
You are completely at ease here,
Embraced by the soft,
Gentle glow of the fairy lights overhead,
And as your head drops into a pillow,
You face the world outside,
The silver-dusted forest canopy and the still,
Serene lake,
The half-moon reflects in perfect form on its glass-like surface,
Not a ripple or current moves through the water,
This quiet,
Tranquil lake is an invitation to embrace the deep stillness that resides within you,
So,
With each slow breath,
Feel yourself mirroring its serenity,
And your thoughts settle like leaves landing on the earth,
With complete acceptance of this present moment,
As you breathe here for a few quiet moments,
Silently repeat,
I am still,
I am deeply at peace,
I am still,
I am deeply at peace,
Gently let the words dissipate now,
As your mind unravels into the quietude,
And give yourself full,
Unconditional permission to simply rest,
To simply breathe,
Take one final look around the loft,
Feel its support,
Its protection,
And its warmth,
And right where you are,
Exactly as you are,
You are held and loved without condition,
There's no one you need to be,
And nothing you need to fix or prove,
Allow these truths to facilitate even deeper relaxation,
And allow yourself to let go completely,
Your eyes gently close,
Though you can still sense the soft ribbon of moonlight streaming through the window,
Its silver light lands on the crown of your head,
And gently massaging your scalp to release any last knots of tension there,
As it reaches your forehead,
Those muscles gently melt as well,
As do any recurrent thoughts,
Your cheeks relax,
Your jaw softens,
And your entire head bathes in a pool of serene silver light,
And notice how the light meets your neck and shoulders,
Washing away any last traces of tension,
Then it flows gracefully down your arms,
Inch by inch to your fingertips,
And inviting your arms to relax deeply and completely,
Draw your awareness to your hands,
Noticing how the light pools there,
You release your grip on the past and on the future,
Making room for the peace of this present moment,
Become aware of your heart space now,
As it fills with soft silver luminosity,
The energy of this light is calm and quietening,
It reminds your heart that there's nothing for it to chase or fear,
You are held,
Loved and supported right where you are,
The universe is cradling you,
The light expands to fill and nourish your entire chest and upper back,
Before it slowly descends through your body,
It gently fills your belly,
Softening your breath,
Offering energetic care to every cell,
Organ and muscle in this area,
Your pelvis and hips are equally nourished by the glistening moonlight,
Guiding them to surrender into a night of restorative slumber,
Then slowly and naturally,
The light flows down your legs,
Offering one final invitation to let go,
To melt,
To give way,
To let go,
To give way,
All the way to your toes,
You relax completely,
Not with force,
But with complete grace and ease,
You recognize wholeheartedly that there's nowhere to go right now,
Neither mentally nor physically,
You are savoring the sweetness of simply breathing,
Sense into your whole body as it rests on the bed in the cabin's loft,
And feel the presence of silver moonlight in every cell,
Bone and muscle of your body,
Imagine your whole body shimmers gently,
As if the moon's serenity has woven itself into you,
Soft silver light filling every corner within,
Your body is relaxed,
Your mind is still,
And your heart is deeply content,
A subtle smile stretches from cheek to cheek for a couple of breaths,
And take a moment now to thank this sacred space for what it's offered you tonight,
For its warmth,
Its release,
Its protection and its deep serenity,
Then when you're ready,
You can gently release the imagery of the sacred light filling your body,
Its soothing,
Subtle vibration will remain within you,
As all visuals dissolve,
Your attention reconnects with your felt sense of the space that's physically holding you,
The pillow beneath your head,
The mattress beneath your whole body,
And the air that surrounds your skin,
Nourishing your whole body with each breath,
With each exhale,
You're naturally invited to let go,
Again and again,
As many times as you need to,
And as you transition into slumber,
Use your breath to support you,
Let each exhale guide you back home to the peaceful,
Sacred space that is always,
Always within you,
Until next time,
Good night my friend,
Good night.
