This is a short,
Grounding practice that you can use anytime during your day if you're feeling untethered,
Worried,
Rushed,
Lacking focus or clarity.
It can be done seated or standing,
Wherever you happen to be.
Once you've listened to my leading you through this practice,
You can do it in 5 seconds if you need to,
Or spend a longer amount of time,
Whatever suits the day and the time that you're in.
To start,
Close your eyes and take a few deep,
Even breaths.
Feel your feet,
Where they make connection with the ground below you,
And if you're seated,
Feel your seat bones firmly on the chair cushioned below you.
And then begin to imagine a root dropping down from your tailbone,
Moving towards the earth.
I also like to imagine smaller roots coming from the soles of my feet and moving into the earth as well.
Perhaps you have one big,
Strong root,
Or many,
Many roots.
However the visualization makes most sense for you,
Feel your roots penetrating the first layer of grass and earth.
Feel them moving through the moist,
Top soil.
Feeling all the energy of growing things there,
Or things that will be growing when the winter snows are gone,
If that's the season you're in.
As your roots move down past grass roots and earthworms,
Past tulip bulbs,
Into more rocky soil,
Feel the aliveness of the earth.
Carry on visualizing your roots moving down next to the dense layer of clay below the top soil,
Through the bedrock below,
Perhaps encountering a flow of water underground.
Carry on watching your roots moving through the earth towards the molten center.
And rather than heat in the middle of the earth,
Visualize energy.
A big,
Pulsing ball of warm,
Nourishing,
Sustaining light.
And allow your roots to dip into this energy.
Allow this energy to course upwards through your roots,
Filling your body,
Nourishing you,
Supporting you.
Feel yourself anchored and supported by the earth,
Able to bend and sway with the winds of the world,
But deeply anchored and held.
You can stay here for as long as you like,
Feeling the energy of the earth rooting down into its support.
And whenever you're ready,
Bring your attention back to whatever it is you're doing,
The room you're in,
And carry on with your day.
