Welcome to this guided meditation,

Where we will take an immersive journey into a forest and allow the surroundings to ground and soothe the mind and body.

Using the breath,

Visualisation and intention,

This journey will guide you to release any tension,

Discomfort or anxiety you may be experiencing.

This meditation is best used with headphones,

To help draw your attention away from any distractions in your immediate surroundings.

This practice is best done lying down,

Of course if that isn't comfortable or accessible to you,

You can remain in an upright seated position.

So take a moment to make sure you are as comfortable as you can be.

And as you arrive into this space,

Let's take a few deep breaths together to come into this present moment.

Take a nice deep,

Slow,

Cleansing breath in through the nose.

And hold at the top for 3,

2,

1.

And exhale slowly out through the mouth.

Taking another deep,

Slow breath in,

And this time as you hold your breath at the top,

I want you to tense all the muscles in your body,

From the toes all the way up to your temples.

Squeeze and tense.

And exhale fully out through the mouth,

Letting go.

One more deep,

Slow,

Cleansing breath in.

Hold at the top.

And this time as you exhale,

Make a nice audible sigh out through the mouth.

Returning to your natural way of breathing,

And let's take a journey into the forest.

Imagine yourself standing barefoot at the edge of a beautiful forest.

As you take in your surroundings,

You observe the vibrancy of the colours of the trees,

The sky clear,

Calming blue,

Not a single cloud in the sky.

The air around you is the perfect temperature.

As you feel the gentle warmth of the sun kiss your skin,

Easing your body,

You draw your attention to your feet,

The soft grass beneath,

And notice how it feels on your skin,

Feeling into the steady,

Solid ground under your feet.

There's something comforting about the support that the earth offers you,

An anchor to return to whenever you need.

You become aware of the sounds of the forest,

Birds singing,

The trickling sounds of the stream in the distance.

And you feel the welcoming pull of the forest as you slowly start to begin walking through the trees,

Observing the height of their branches reaching up towards the sky.

You realise that they have been here for hundreds of years,

Offering shelter and a home for the wildlife,

Standing strong and steady through the cycles of the seasons.

They offer a wisdom of what it means to trust the ebb and flow of life.

And this thought brings a sense of comfort to your mind.

You continue walking,

Noticing the soft,

Spongy moss beneath your feet,

As you start to take in the scent of cedar and pine.

These grounding scents offer relaxation to your senses,

And as you walk,

You eventually come to a clearing in the centre of the forest,

Where the soft moss and grass invites you to rest,

The sun pouring through the trees,

Warming this spot just for you.

You lie down,

Resting your body onto the earth beneath,

A welcome break,

As you look up to the trees that reach up into the sky,

Offering shelter and protection,

As birds fly and soar above.

Laying here,

You tune your awareness to your body,

Noticing the points of contact between body and earth,

The weight of gravity creating a heaviness,

And holding you to that earth beneath,

As you allow yourself to sink just a little bit deeper into the ground,

And letting go of anywhere you might be holding in your back body,

And surrendering to that support,

The support in the back of your head,

The neck,

The shoulders,

The length of the spine,

The glutes,

The back of the legs,

And the feet,

And turning your awareness to the parts of your body that respond to this grounding energy,

And noticing anywhere within the body if it feels calm,

Steady,

Or neutral,

And sensing how it feels,

Perhaps it's a softening,

A warm sensation,

Maybe even a heaviness,

Or a stillness,

Take a moment to connect to the sensations,

Now gently tune your awareness to anywhere in the body that perhaps you have been experiencing pain,

Tension,

Or discomfort,

Without judgment,

Allow the mind instead to become curious of the sensation,

Notice the physicality of it,

Perhaps there's a pulsing,

A tightening,

Or dullness,

Just allow your mind to observe and track,

Knowing that you are safe,

And supported in this place to explore your inner landscape,

Moving that awareness once more to your back body,

And the support of the earth beneath,

You feel the connection as you start to notice that the barrier between your body and the ground is blurred,

Letting yourself soften and sink,

And let go even deeper into the earth,

As if you were a part of it,

And rooted like the trees around you,

Perhaps even sensing roots coming out from the base of your spine,

Or your feet,

And through the breath we are going to release,

To whatever degree possible,

Any tension,

Pain,

Or discomfort into the ground below,

Take a slow deep breath in through the nose,

Taking in the fresh cleansing air of the forest,

And as you exhale slowly out through the mouth,

Allowing any tension to dissolve out through your roots,

Out through the back body,

Taking in another fresh cleansing breath,

Breathing in the grounding scents of the pine and cedar,

And exhale slowly,

Releasing into the ground,

Through those roots,

Breathing in,

Slow,

Steady,

Cleansing,

Breathing out,

Letting it all dissolve into the earth,

Breathing in spaciousness,

Light,

Breathing out,

Letting it all go through the back body as the earth offers you support and healing,

Allowing it to absorb and transmute your discomfort,

Breathing in healing,

Breathing out,

Softening,

Releasing,

Breathing in fresh new energy,

Breathing out,

Anything weighing you down,

Breathing in healing,

Breathing out pain,

Breathing in spaciousness,

Breathing out tension,

Breathing in light,

Breathing out darkness,

Breathing in softening,

Breathing out softening,

Allow your body to return to its natural breath,

You look up at the sun through the tops of the trees,

As a light pours through the branches,

Down through the crown of your head,

Offering you peace and healing,

As this light makes its way down through your head,

Face,

Into the neck and throat,

Down into the shoulders,

Down through the back,

Along the length of the spine,

Cleansing,

Repairing,

Every muscle,

Bone,

Cell and organ that it touches,

Feeling that light move into your heart space,

The ribs and lungs,

Helping you to breathe more easily,

Down the abdomen,

This light making its way through the legs,

Until your whole body is bathed in light,

And simply noticing the body,

The sensations,

The earth,

The sounds,

Feeling a sense of peace wash over you,

You feel grateful for the healing and support that this forest has offered you,

Leaving the heaviness behind and taking the medicine that you've received,

You begin to make your way,

From the clearing,

Back to the edge of the forest,

Your steps,

Slow and intentional,

Smiling as you take in your surroundings one last time,

You feel a sense of comfort as you stand at the edge of the forest,

Knowing that you can return any time you need,

This safe and sacred place is always here for you,

Tuning into the support beneath you,

Noticing the temperature of the air,

As you gently draw yourself back to the space and the setting that you are in,

Bringing some soft mindful movement into your body,

As you come into a state of wakefulness,

And whenever you're ready,

In your own time,

Gently opening your eyes.
